I have a Madcatz beat pad. it constantly slides around causing me to fail easy heavy songs.
I was just wondering if the pad can affect the score almost if not as much as the players ability? |

Uh...only if you're using a pad adapter. AFAIK, none of the pads have any discernable internal delay on them without a pad adapter, so it's purely a function of player ability + pad quality. Having a CF won't make you get AAAs unless you were capable of getting them in the first place.
I think I'm rather confused as to what your question really is. _________________

Well, if you've got a cruddy pad that slides and often doesn't detect steps or gets "stuck" a lot, obviously your scoring abilities will be hindered. A single misread step can cost you that AA or AAA, so yeah, you're going to want a good pad for that kind of scoring. |

I have played on RedOctane ignition pads and i can easily pass 7-8 footers. When i am at home and play on my MadCatz, i can only pass 4-5 footers. So I am not making any progress on my MadCatz, but if I buy a better pad i should be able to improve right? |

I've played on the Mad Catz Beat Pad before. I think it can definitely be an obstacle when playing. At my best, I can full combo (but not AA) most 8 footers and I'm working on getting better at 9s. My skill is nothing spectacular, but when I played on the Beat Pad, I was failing 4 and 5 footers. It had a tendency to crumple up and slide around under my feet, so it was hard to know whether or not I was stepping on the right button at times. A better pad like an Ignition or Ignition clone probably will help to an extent, because it's slightly more arcadelike in the respect that you can concentrate more on the arrows and your movements as opposed to where your pad is and what it's doing.
