i was at best buy today, and they had DDR Extreme for ps2 with an octane pad hooked up to this big plasma screen. i tried out my skills. usually im pretty good, but it felt weird because i had to press down really really really really hard.

it was so embarassing in front of everyone at the store. i think the mat was not meant to be a on a rug, rather a harder surface.

so have you had any moments where you just want to run off and cry, and write in your diary about your heartache?

maybe not so extreme, but yeah...

yeah.

One day I failed Brilliant 2U Heavy. I had already SDGed it, but my mind was elsewhere, and I just failed. I turned around and all my friends just stared at me blankly, with a "WTF is going on?" expression on their faces.

I have no idea how this has happened to me in any way whatsoever. I don't remember ever being close to tears about anything DDR related-- I just brush it off. blink.gif

If you want something someone else in the same situation might do that about, I once failed MAX 300 Heavy on the last step of the last triplet with a crowd.

Suffice to say, never play on heavy with a strapless bra. The thing fell off mid-song...

I'll spin the disc and say why man? why!? WTF is wrong with you. I have 4 reasons why you could have failed.
1)Someone pushed you off.
2)You just got too tired
3)The pad was broken
4)You were high or drunk or something...... I don't know where I'm going with this just...*snickers* Seriously we all have our bad days. riiight.gif

I had two last week.

I was at E3. Ultramix3 was hooked up. I waited in line for ages to get my turn.

Finally got up there... nice looking guy wanted to do doubles... he was pretty hot. Pity my husband was watching. Anyway.

They had these flat pads taped to the floor. No way to tell where the arrows were at all. I'm not used to that... I've played on softpads (raised arrows) and I've played on metal pads (lowered arrows) and I've played at the arcade (lowered arrows) but never on a totally flat pad.

I ended up wayyyyy off the pad to the right and down on one jump... didn't realize it... got a whole slew of boos. In front of a bunch of people and my husband and The Hot Guy.

Not my day.

Next day, I go to Disneyland. There's this stupid ride called Imaginations or something like that. Anyway they had DDR Disneymix upstairs. I go to play... someone jumps on the second pad. I pick Midnight blaze... again, it's an annoying flat pad that has no raised or lowered bits to it. Anyway, the guy next to me, in the middle of the song (I'm doing Ok, not great, but at least I'm on the damn pad)... hits X and stalks off. The whole game quits. (Not just his part, my side too!). Gahhhh.

I have given up playing DDR in public except at the arcades. Flat pads suck, and people who don't know what they are doing also suck.

Flat pads, though, really really suck.
