Hey folks. Well, hell has frozen over again. It seems that an arcade in Erie, Pennsylvania, might be getting a IIDX system.

I have a question about the screen, the big-screen - is there some protective cover in front of it so some smartass kid won't punch the screen (plasma I assume) and break it? Also, what is the resolution?

All I can tell you is that it's a 16:9 ratio screen... I want to say... 51 inches across?

Family First. The arcade op called it a "Beatmania 2" and had absolutely no idea whether it was something like Beatmania 2nd Mix or IIDX. We're crossing our fingers it means IIDX.

www.ddrerie.com <-- forums might have some info

I've heard that before. (True Story)

Arcade: "Hey! We're getting Beatmania 2!"
Players: "Awsome! What version? Although we don't mind much."
Arcade: "Dunno."

Weeks later - Beatmania Complete Mix 2 laugh.gif

I hope you guys get an IIDX machine up there. I roadtripped 2 hours to play 8th Style in Augusta, Georgia, and its a really fun experience. Just make sure you know what you are doing before turning on the effectors, or make sure you ask someone before turning on effectors, or make sure you don't end up with someone who turns on your effectors at full volume while you're playing a song. *points at Xybur whilst making last bit of advice*

All I can say is if some jerk kid punches the screen out of a IIDX machine, he'd better hope you guys don't find him in a dark ally.

And all I can say is maybe you should NOT use boldface type because it's really goddamn annoying.

If it doesn't have a plastic protection, give it one. I would hate to hear about a beautiful IIDX machine getting destroyed like that

More like Lexan. A thin sheet of plastic wouldn't do anything but keep the dust off of it. If you want to make sure nobody (for whatever stupid reason shit like this happens...like some jackass trying to matrix-walk while playing 5.1.1. with his tongue) screws up the screen, then put some sort of hard covering over it. Something that would resist an impact.

Three words. Ell. Oh. Ell.

It seems if someone punched the screen hard enough for it to break it, said person would be shocked. If they aren't shocked, cut off the offending hand then charge for the cost of the screen and the amputation. The exception would be if the person has enough money to get you all the Bemani games in the latest version, in which case said person should buy you the latest version of every Bemani game and/or upgrade all the Bemani machines to the latest version. Hammurabi's code of law works like that - lose a body part or pay a serious fine E13.gif

... You just gave me a *great* idea, because its doable!

Anyway, most IIDX machines have a projection screen, which die easially. The new ones come with a smaller CRT screen, and I owuldn't be too worried about thouse breaking.
