PIU step confusion

it's really hard to read the arrows sometimes, I see a 2x on the side of the screen unlit, how do you activate it?

one more question, I sometimes see a jump that is upper-left upper-right and middle. How do I hit that one?

Not sure about the 2x, but for a 3 panel step, you need to hit the 3rd panel with your hand.

I think the code for speed mods is just hitting the top two panels back and forth (79797979etc) until they activate. Keep doing it for higher mods.

For 3 panel jumps, you can also try hitting two with one foot. It's really not too hard to get used to after you do it a few times.

Repeat for 3x and above. The mods should be listed on the machine.

so I have to hit it with my hand? ouch, I can already feel my weight crushing my arm bones. (I'm teh phat!)

I tried to hit it with one foot on two, but it didn't register.

Don't try to "hit" two panels at once. It's not that consistant and it's not that pleasant on your foot. PIU has pretty wide timing windows, so what I do is this (I'll use your UR UL CENTER situation):

1. Left foot hits UL.
2. Right foot hits CENTER with the heel in the upper right corner of the panel.
3. I simply rock my foot foward quickly and use the toes on the right foot to hit UR.

Works like a charm. You really should force yourself into using handplants, though. After the initial "ow my arms hurt all the time" period, they get really really fun. You'll still need to use the foot method to hit multiples in faster songs, though.

ok, thanks, I'll do that. I'm kinda new to playing PIU. Only games of it's nature that I've played is that Pop'n Music or whatever it is and DDR. I never really got that far in ddr either, I can only AA 3 songs, 2 8's and a 7. I've only passed Bag no mods and Sakura heavy 1.5X for 10 steps, I try the other ones and I get slaughtered lol -_-

NEVER go down for arrows unless in PIU unless it's the last note of the song, or freeze notes require it. That's one of Pump's only flaws, is that triples are placed right in the mix of all the sixteenths, so they just aren't hand doable.

I use my hands for most of the triples in Slam, including the mid-stream ones, but only because my feet are too small to hit triples consistantly. It's possible to use hands for just about everything, but working your feet around them if it's a mid-stream one gets to be a bother.
