I couldn't attend due to huge responsibilities over here in Chicagolandia, but I know Bemanistyle's got a report about the event up. Not sure if anyone else does yet?

On the Pick Your Tunes screen, holding E18.gif brings up a screen where you can press leftsel.gif for easier steps, rightsel.gif for harder steps, or peoples.gif to bring up the sort menu.

So combinations are still key on that screen. Hold E18.gif and flick rightsel.gif a few times to get over to your favourite Expert stepchart. Or hold E18.gif and smack peoples.gif for the sort / mode change menu.

I'd also like to know why there are still 4 USB ports as well biggrin.gif.

That is because the machine shown there is the same preliminary design that graced Chicago's ASI show. E7.gif

Interface change, eh?

Well, I'd like to voice my opinion that the "old interface" screenshots look a lot better than the "new interface" screenshots, and that's not even taking the unfinished look of the new interface into account. In the old interface, everything is round. In the new interface, since things are half round, half angular, it just looks dumb. Also, I think the silver stands out quite nicely, while things get sort of muddy when everything, including borders, are just red.

I agree with Brother Mojo (also known as Rancidfish) about the half-angular-half-round, I don't like it.

The arrow decals look amazing though. And the idea of the Red Button (and especially Plaguefox's explanation of it replacing red and green with emoticions) is ingenious.

So the cabinent, with regard to the actual body, is going to change just slightly within the next month?

Yes! Finally a red button to answer some interface issues. Here's hoping that it will somehow control difficulty without having to resort to the archaic and often accidental double tap of up and down.

Also, I've came up with an interesting idea for the red button (erm, if you guys haven't thought of it yet)...since you can change mods during a song, how about let pushing the red button during a song operate mods? For instance, say you can set up two different sets of mods before you pick a song - that way when you pick Vertex, you can set 1.5x and 0.5x - and use the 1.5x for the majority of the song and tap the button to get at 0.5x when the ludicriously fast part starts.

Or, in battle mode, have a little Street Fighter-like bar on the side showing what mods you'll send to your opponent, and tap the button to send them. (I'm assuming that Battle plays a bit like Dance Magic - admittedly I don't have that much ITG experience.)

Perhaps set the red button so that it turns on/off handclaps during a song so that people know what they're aiming for on particular parts.

Anyway, just a few off-the-top-of-my-head ideas...I know that some of them could well be considered heresy from DDR veterans, but I think it's time for a change.

I'm betting it's too late in the development cycle or something to do this, but this is an incredibly good idea.

That's not true.
Changes are still being made. The game for all we know it is not feature frozen or anything.

I hope they keep in that one feature that makes the game fun, or maybe add that other one that makes it really fun.

And anyway, that would likely disqualify you from ranking, just like C-mods do. I can imagine some songs where you'd want "normal" in one modset and "random" in another one, so you can switch when the parts that are full of spins are coming up, and then switch back when the steps get more straightforward again.

So this red button - will it be a component of your upgrade it for folks that already have DD...erm...other dancing games? riiight.gif

Oh yeah, and is there any special upgrade info/pricing for folks upgrading from ITG1?

-Other ideas for the red button-

Take a screenshot of arrows moving and such during gameplay! Or take photos of the high scores as well during attract mode for the especially ego-concious. Heck, it could also be used to see the top ten for a particular song/course/difficulty, since it doesn't seem to pop up anytime other than when someone else knocks you off...

I dunno about the whole chording thing though (hold down the red button and press green to sort) - won't that lead to the same accidental selection problems as pressing down left/right/start? How about make red a toggle to sort change difficulty (tap once to enter menu, tap again to leave) - or maybe some sort of user-selectable option between hold/toggle that stays on the USB card? (For more on this issue, try to make a Codec call on the Gamecube version of MGS: The Twin Snakes.)

Hey, you've got UDLR on the console now...how about hand-and-foot-doubles? Or Quad mode? E4.gif

So, yeah, I know that feature suggestions are the last thing you guys want right now, but think of it as 'just a thought' things for ITG 3 or somesuch.

No, C-mods aren't the same as changing mods. Personally, all the C mods are too fast for me. If they had a C150/C200, I'd be happy. If they had a 2x for the slower part and 1.5 for the faster part *coughtoughenoughcough*, I'd be happier.

This is a test version. Many elements will appear incomplete. You can't base your opinions on an unfinished copy.

ITG3: The return of the long song. You can play one eight minute song and if you star it you get to play a single song. Just imagine a 13
