The best keyboard for doing Stepmania has to be the Logitech Internet Navigator Keyboard! biggrin.gif

What's everybody's opinion?

Most people I've talked to say the Logitech Elite keyboard is the best SM keyboard. I might be getting one soon E7.gif

The best keyboard for Stepmania would be... something that isn't wireless and something that the keys won't fall out or your fingers slipping on the harder songs and such. Or just get that keyboard that DELL computers come with, they're good enough.

I have a Logitech Elite. biggrin.gif It works pretty well. I've played on a friend's keyboard before and it was really hard because the keys stuck out so much. I also used to have an HP keyboard, but I accidentally broke that one when I spilled soda on it. riiight.gif

No, not really. I have an ergonomic keyboard. The main sets of keys wouldn't work well at all for Stepmania. The arrow keys are setup differently so I don't really use those for anything anymore (they used to be my main FPS keys). The number pad kind of works, but only for singles. And even then sometimes I hit the wrong keys instead.

My old keyboard worked a lot better for singles (thanks to the different setup for arrow keys) and even worked better for doubles.

Logitech Elite is easily the best,

Some people have taken serious skill jumps after transferring to a Logitech Elite, uncluding me, Omegix, and I think Hayden, to name a few I know of.

I have an old school compaq key board which I just took it apart, removed the buttons on the num pad exept for the arrows, enter, and num lock. Then I just made a cardboard plate for the empty spots... works and you can do cross overs and gallops better with your fingers and I replaced the arrows with custom plastic similar to the arrows... so its all good and works perfectly

Does anyone out there play doubles on stepmania (on a keyboard)? If so, what kind of keyboard is it and which keys do you map it to? I can't seem to find a good setup that feels as good as using the keyboard arrows for singles.

i currently use a logitech media keyboard

the number pad and qwe iop keys all work perfectly, so i use the number pad for ffr and qwop for sm. the arrow keys have a little problem keeping the timing steady, but they're super light and slidy so you can do retarded poopy on index, dispite your bad timing when using them.
