Yes, I know that travel and lodging will be provided and it will put your name on the map in the DDR world so that should also be considered, but man, $500 just ain't enough.

Seriously, even if i was a chick, there's no way $500 would be enough for a month. At my current job I could make $1200 dollars a month (which isn't much by the way) and I don't even have to travel.

I wouldn't quite consider it as much like "work" as almost any other job short of video game testing. (Which is still probably a little more on the frustrating side at times laugh.gif )

I am wondering about the female stipulation though...just the technical legality in terms of equal rights, yada yada. (Or whether, as someone said, they already have 2 guys?) Just a thought anyway...

hey, if nickelodeon wants only a male ddr player, then it's fair for red octane to have a female player tongue.gif

then again they might already have 2 males to play...lol

I'm sure redoctane has plenty of male employees that get paid more than the $8.33/hr they are offering for these positions. Equal employment opportunity doesn't mean they have to have equal gender in all positions. In all reality its more likely the hiring of only females will actually help the gender equality situation.

San Francisco Minimum Wage: $8.50/hr
Everywhere else in the Bay Area: $6.75/hr.

It's more then enough.

Because most of their employee's are male and the disadvantaged minority is female, then by stipulating females they are compensating for their disadvantage, otherwise known as privatized affirmative action.

As far as qualifications, all I need is...

-to be a girl
-Excellent oral communication skills(definitely)
-Ability to speak to large crowds(which is kind of dependant on your oral skills)

Now only if I had those oral skills.. sigh

Crap. I qualify, but I'm not able to travel out to California. The worst part is that I need a job, lol.

How hilarious. You guys are arguing that it's sexism because it's discriminating against men. And yet, you've got the situation totally wrong.

Do you think that the PR firms that hire booth babes for E3 are empowering the feminist movement? After all, they're hiring overwhelmingly female people...regardless of the fact that they just want them to stand there, look pretty, show some skin, and pretend to smile while posing for pictures with the greasiest of geeks out there. YEAH. That's empowering women all right.

Now granted, I don't know the extent of the position RO is hiring these ladies for, but I doubt that it's terribly different from what I stated above. I expect RO will show a lot more class than most of the people at E3 ever did, but you guys that are complaining that this is biased against men are just totally off your rocker.

Im moving to SF. Rest of the country = $5.50 ish. I could survive (especially being 14) at $8.50 an hour.

Haha, no you can't. There's a reason for a higher minimum wage. The cost of living is higher here, that's why there's a higher minimum wage. You'd be living from paycheck to paycheck at a wage of $15/hr here.

Oh and San Francisco teachers make the least money out of every other school district in the Bay Area. That's an obvious example of the above, I guess.

At the end, the crowd won't care about the skills. RO probobally just wants two attractive females to play the game and get paid for a weekend job.

You could just commute to SF and live in Oakland.

If RO didn't have the travel accomodations made, noone would take this job. It also depends where the modeling for ITG will be. NOCAL or SOCAL?

The commute would easily cost $6 round trip on public transportation though. You'd have to like work one hour to make up for your commute practically. $2/$3 for parking at the East Bay stations. >=P

Oh, anyways. I think you should contact RO Dancing Seniorita. It could possibly work out for you, as they did say that they'd provide lodging and transportation.

Baka, to back up your statement, CA minimum wage is 6.75. Obviously, some areas have higher min wage as MUCH higher living standards are in place.

Why does it matter if what they get paid!? It's Voluntary, not a real job, most likely they will do it out of the love of the game not for the money.

The money is just a benefit really, especially when you have people interested from far away too.

Exactly. It doesn't hold a candle to my regular wages, but the fact is...I frequently take weekends off and go travel places to play DDR/ITG on weekends ANYWAY, and it's a great way to meet people, something to put on the resume, you get "trained" at redoctane...yeah. The 500$ is just enough to convince me I at least won't *lose* money if I do it. It sounds like a blast.

You're not sexist. There's nothing "sexist" or morally wrong about being attracted to beautiful women. The myth that it's "evil" for men to notice or admire or appreciate the aesthetic quality of females (i.e. "objectification") is one of the greatest lies of our era. It's not wrong, and you need to stand up for what's right and not let un-informed people tell you otherwise.

Rise above the politically correct brainwashing and appreciate the beauty and wonder of the world around you. No guilt. No shame. Ever.
