I like how they didn't bother to make a sound byte for combos over 1000. I got up past 1700, but he just kinda whispered "Perfect combo!"
It was a bit disappointing. |

True in:
the whole Max series.
False in:
Previous mixes.
I hate him in early mixes because every possible action makes him talk.
I like him in DDR Extreme since it's just right. not too much not too little. _________________

Awesome idea. i hate the announcer on the PS2. he says "do you have a fever *cough* *cough*" when you fail or "are you out of shape?" that got me really mad. i can't tell if its good when he says "its a UFO!!!" it freaks me out when he says "you and me, YOU AND ME!" |

According to the DDRFreak dictionary he is saying 'UMA UMA' which aparently stands for Unidentified Mysterious Animal . Not sure what all that means. I originally thought he was saying "You the man!" which shows how much I know. |

I've taken a look at the Solo announcer pack. Here's the highlights of what I saw. I colored what I felt were the most insulting lines red.
The Complimentary
AAA Evaluation "That was awesome! You're the best dancer I've ever seen!"
AA Evaluation "I have never seen anything like this before...show me more."
A Evaluation "I'm impressed. You brought tears to my eyes. Thanks for a great show!"
B Evaluation "Great! That was great! You're a real dance machine."
Doing Well "Whoo! No one's better than you!" / "You're on a roll!" / "You're the best!"
The Encouraging
C Evaluation "C'mon, give it another try." / "C'mon, please try again." / "That wasn't your best, you can do better!"
D Evaluation "Don't give up...concentrate!" / "No, not yet! It's too early to leave! Try again!"
The Insulting
D Evaluation "C'mon, you got no rhythm." / "Uhh...can't you hear the beat...?"
E Evaluation "Get off the stage. You can't handle this." / "It's no good. You need to start again at the beginning." / "No, it's no good. Do you really want to dance?" / "Ugh, terrible! Get out of here!"
In Danger Of Failing "I don't even want to look...it's no good..." / "Oh, I can't stand it!" / "Please tell me you're not really trying." / "What's that?" / "You're a loser." _________________

The announcers in Ultramax2 are wierd.
I was dancing right after easter and it said - after I got a D on some song - "Uh Oh, someone's been eating too much easter candy!"
Which annoyed me because I'm jewish, and didn't have any easter candy (although I would've loved some).
I've also noticed that the comments they make change depending if you are playing on light or standard. In light, all the comments are encouraging. "You just need a little more pratice"... on Standard though, they start to get downright insulting. "That was awful!" "You Failed!" "You should play an easier song"...
I am not looking forward to hearing what they have to say in Heavy. |

Yeah, when I play DDR the announcer really screws up my concentration and my combos! Some of the stuff he says is not even necessary. Sooo annoying! _________________

I love the announcer in Max-Ex...it just seems really boring to play without his comments. The announcer in 1st to 5th mix is just friggin' annoying. I started laughing so hard playing solo 4th when he said "I'm getting excited!" that I broke my combo and almost failed the song.
Comments help me though when I'm close to failing a song...when he says something like "Your steps are really unsteady" I get mad and think 'yeah I'll frickin show you'. Then I usually end up coming back because I absolutely LOVE to prove people wrong and show them I'm capable of doing something they think I can't...even if it is a voice inside a video game lol. _________________

The Announcer gets annoying, but I don't want to play without him. It's weird because on Konamix the announcer sounds really far away- there's a ton of reverb in his voice on the grade screen and menu screen. It kinda creeps me out. |
