After reading through 18 pages, I've only seen one post that relates to my question, and there wasn't even a good answer to it.
I have rather big feet and when I play US DDR Extreme, I get lots of Good, Almost, and Boo's cause I'll accidentally hit one of the corner squares (which are x,o,triangle, square and trigger u, d, l, r). I want to turn those squares off when I'm playing but as far as I can tell, theres no option for it in extreme. Isn't there a good way to turn the corners off while you're playing? It seems like a pretty important thing that somebody should have addressed, either cobaltflux or konami when they were making ddr extreme.
What are some work-arounds? _________________

Putting paper between the metal contacts. I have cork squares on 3 of those panels, except for the top right panel. _________________
Please do not refer Burning Heat or Bag and such steps as 12th notes. They are eighth notes in triple meter (example: 6/8 time), or triplets in duple meter (example: 4/4 time, like most of the songs in DDR). Thank you. |

Greetings To One And All,
I am pusedo-new to DDRFreak and thought i would toss a couple of cents to this.
I remember when I was browsing around after Ultramix1 came out and I saw CF's mentioned here and there. I tossed them an email and the response I got was that they werent going to support Xbox at that time. Now I think they realized that Ultramix isn't/wasn't just a gimic and that people are playing it. Without getting into a "which is better" debate, Ultramix is here and it is here to stay. And i think in time we will get a fully functional Xbox CBox, (at least i really hope so before I get my CF, or i will be another person offering my soul to Sinistar to make me one of his beauties). But hey i could be wrong.
Now I have a question for those actual owners of a CF pad. Now this is going to sound like a total "n00b" question but oh well. So making sure i understand this, the CF pad itself is just that. The very nice looking metal pad I have drooled over many times. But then you have a totally detachable control box that right now is only available in PS2 form. Again i know this is a total new guy question, but i just wanted to make sure i was right.
Thanks all for the input.

what i wanna know is what makes this pad better then all the others, other then durability (or is that the only thing)
because im looking for a metal pad. Metal pads aren't flat like the CF (which is good because it won't make as much noise, i live on the top floor of a 3 floor apartment) and on the RO u can feel where u r on it
durability isn't an issue for me i can probably mod a metal pad and make it more durable or if it breaks i can easily fix it without much money. |

The easiest thing to do is find some standard corrugated cardboard, cut it into 11"x11" squares, and insert them between the arrow decals and the top layer of sheet metal.
That way, you'll still see the arrow graphic for those panels and they'll still be active for song selection and other navigation.
However, the 3/4" truss screws might not be long enough to maintain a tight hold in the MDF with that extra spacing. If you find that is an issue, you might have to run out and buy some 1" long wood screws to use in their place. _________________

personally for turning off arrows i plan on adding a passthrough with a bunch of slider switches on a cheap xbox cbox somewhat like sinistar's..once i buy my two CF's anyways..if anyones making their own control boxes and doesnt care about xbox live saying its a pad, i recommend hipgear controllers, they're cheap and easy to solder to (i have seen about four different boards in them though but they have the same basic setup)..i stocked up on them when i had a discount at compusa .. |

I recently played on somebody else's pads--they may have been made by RO--and I was frustrated by the goddamned metal slats that rose up between the buttons. They hurt my feet when I didn't wear shoes, and got in the way when I did. Do the Cobalt Flux pads have anything like that? If not, what do they have between the buttons? What does it feel like to step on that border? |

i have an RO that came in 4 days ago, but i wish i had gotten this. On the RO u have to stomp to get it to register, on the CO all u have to do is tap the arrow (and i never played on it but every1 says it) and im sure my RO will break somewhere down the line
if i had had an extra 100 bucks i would of gotten this |

The CF does not have slats, but it does have gaps between all the panels. And the edges of the Lexan are fairly sharp - barefoot players have been known to walk away with some blood loss.
So, either way, you're going to be hurting if you don't wear shoes. |
i prefer shoes on mine, but socks are always fine, although it just hurts a little more, and you don't get as much traction, i slip too much |

There is no bar for CF. All the bar mods were custom made by owners of CFs done by themselves, usually using pipes and stuff. _________________

So i finnaly received my CF pad and god its freaking heavy but impressive.
So i tried it out, works fine BUT what the hell does it takes for the pad to be more sensitive? 2-3 months of playing? more?
Do you have to louse the screws or tight them more for it to be more sensitive? Cause i still have to press hard on the arrows so it register.
Oh and yes, timing is a lot better on this pad then my soft one. _________________
