Does anyone else hate arcade workers? I've just had my second run-in with an bumhole worker in only a couple weeks time. A few weeks ago, a worker told me and a few friends we had "10 minutes left" before close. So, we hurried up and got our last plays in. When it gets to the 5 minute mark, the bumhole shuts the power down right at the end of my 3rd song and wont respond with a good reason why. This past weekend, i was at a local movie theater where they have just a few arcade games, one being DDR. So me and my friend are playing and this jack buttocks employee comes over and tells us to "quit stomping on the pads." So we just ignored him for a few minutes, until he came back a few minutes later and said it again, this time with much more attitude and threatening to throw us out because he can "hear us all the way across the building." My friend got in his face and told him we weren't stomping, so the guy didnt come back after that.
First off, i do not stomp on the damn pads, im like 130 pounds and wear converse, and i actually remember specifically that i was trying to throw less of my weight around to preserve energy that day. Secondly, its not like i was playing butterfly on light, when you play heavy, you're going to be somewhat noisey. I just think it was because it was mid day on a sunday and we were some of the only people there, so it was alot more quiet that day. That, coupled with him obviously not knowing much about ddr, made him come off as a big bumhole, and im sick of douche bag employees.
Anyone have similar stories? |

Back in the local arcade here (which used to have DDR) the employes seem like zombies... especially one whose eyes are half open all the time... _________________

The second employee gayxdanny speaks of doesn't seem that assholish to me; it's more than likely that this was the first he'd heard it so loud, since gxd mentioned it was an emptyish hall.
<end point>
The arcade I go to may not have the greatest games, but half of the staff play DDR, so they always try to keep the pads in nice condition (as far as I know, anyway). _________________

There's a really small game room at MIT and that's where I play, and the arcade manager Jeff is AWESOME. He comes in every night and fixes the pads and all the other games, and even leaves up a grid of arrows on the bulletin board so we can circle which sensors are dead, sticky, or need to be cleaned. He replaces the sensors frequently, and checks off all the problems, saying what he did to the pad. It's reasonably priced at 50 cents a game (all arcade games, including DDR 8th/4th Plus and Tekken 5) as well. One night I lost 10 dollars in the token machine (it just ate it up like what), and I put my contact info on the board not thinking I'd ever hear from them, and lo and behold, two days later, I get a voicemail saying that there was a 10 dollar bill not accounted for in tokens and that they'd gladly send it back to me via USPS. It's really nice to have a small game room to play at because even though there isn't much variety, the people there take care of their machines more in order to maximize profit, and it doesn't hurt us DDR players, either!
Now if only they'd listen to us and get an ITG... |

Yeah some arcade employees are assholes, but I would be too if I had to deal with greedy little kids all the time.
I think this should probably go in the arcade forum though. |

Oh yeah.. I try to play in arcades that the employees aren't jerks. The mall i used to play in had really crappy workers.. The machine volume was already low enough and they told us to not stomp like I saw before. Then they would get their security rent-a-cops on us and some people were kicked out, it was horrible. I haven't played there in a longggg time. _________________

The employees at the arcade I go to aren't really in the arcade section much, because most of them are either supervising laser tag games, or are in the racing section. However, whenever it's just me by myself or just me and one of my friends, the arcade workers always stare at us and constantly walk by the DDR machine. _________________

I told this employee that some arrows weren't working he said that it's our fault for stomping on the pads and we should take better care of them.

2 of the arcades that i go to, the staff is pretty cool. Although there is one where i want to convince the staff to change the price of ddr & itg from $1 to 75¢, but theyre al ignorant, so i havent gone in while in protest. _________________
