I'm building a pad based on riptide's design, but I'm making it for an xbox.

The problem is, I have an old xbox controller that I'm not using, and I don't want to have to buy a xbox soft pad to dismantle. So, does anyone know where the solder points are on a normal xbox controller (especially for ground)?

Thanks...

Regular xbox controllers aren't nearly as easy as 3rd party playstation controllers, or even dualshocks. I haven't looked inside my 3rd party xbox controller, but the buttons work differently on my xbox S controller (I think the directional buttons have solder points like I expected, so if you're using no other buttons on your pad but those four, it might work for you).

Even though you said you didn't want to, I'd highly recommend getting a cheapo xbox dance pad. I was just at GameStop today and saw one for $15. You'll get much bigger solder points, and in the event you ever use it on Live, it'll register as a dance pad and not a controller. Plus, you wouldn't want to mess up a perfectly good controller (or maybe you have a sticky old one, like the one I took apart E1.gif ).

Heh...

I already opened one, but I guess I'll go with the cheapo-pad strategy riiight.gif
