They're broken because the CVS updates on the hour.

And yeah, I used the RedOctane Metal Pad page as a template, and I forgot that one.

Hmmm... I've seen Intec pads that look just like this selling for $40 at Toys R Us. Only these have the hard foam inside. Has anyone encountered this pad?

I just got one of these today, my cousin got it for $16 because she works for Best Buy.

Its ok, but I'm used to the hard foam pad so its rough on the feet. Also slips a bit, not as much as most plastic pads though.

gah! I change my mind. this pad official SUCKS!

It is a few miliseconds behind on everything, so it is almost impossible to do well on songs becuase you have to play a few seconds ahead of the arrows.

DONT buy one.

I bought this pad. At the time I couldn't find anything else for cheap. Anyway, I would not recommend buying this pad. It lags behind a pad plugged in dirrectly. Whenever either of us try to play double and there's a jump that includes both pads, we both always get a boo.

Yes, I picked one up today to fill in while I send my RO Ignition back (less than 60 days after I bought it and it's completely dead).

Anyway, it's called the Ultimate Dance Pad, and it's another ignition clone. It only supports PS2, and it's not wireless. One zipper broke while I was putting it together, but the foam is the dense stuff like what comes with a real Ignition. After one use, I'd have to say it's pretty good. It's not quite as reponsive as an Ignition, and the touch area for the arrows is smaller. If you can used to that, the fact that it's $60 cheaper than an Ignition makes it a decent bargain.

What about this exact dance pad that ISN'T wireless? They have it at Toys R' Us for $20 and I was wondering if it was any good. Oh by the way, anyone playing on it will be a beginner, if that helps any. (I'm looking for a cheap pad so I can get my family into playing this game with me)

Now that I've had the pad for a week, I agree with you. There aren't any buttons that continually stick, but I get enough misses to drop my score by a letter or two. My feet don't slide across the covering as well as on a Red Octane, which makes crossovers a pain. It's a good pad to learn on, since it doesn't have many problems in light mode, but for anyone more advanced, it will just lead to frustration.

So I decided to buy this non wireless pad anyways to see how it is. The design is different, the buttons are much smaller than any of the other soft pads. The nonslip botton doesn't move too much. I wouldn't know if it moved a lot on heavy songs though, I only play mostly light and easy standard. I have trouble hitting the right button, I'm not sure if I get off center or if the sensor in the pad is moved over to the very far right.

Overall its an okay pad, but if you have big feet or play on anything higher than light I wouldn't bother with it.

For all of you who are complaining about lag, have you tried changing the timing settings on the game? That's why they are there!

Anyway, I'm curious about this pad, and may consider getting one if the timer settings can fix the lag problem. As long as the lag is always of the same amount, it should work. I'm just worried that the amount of lag may fluctuate, so that no amount of adjustment would fix it.

Hello all,

I'd almost given up hope on this issue until I came across these boards and saw how know knowledgeable some of you folks are here. I'd appreciate any pointers you might be able to throw my way. E1.gif

I bought two SmartJoy Plus adapters sometime last year and they have been working perfectly for playing console emulated games on my PC. I recently wanted to try playing Stepmania on my PC so I bought a cheap MadCatz dance pad, and the SmartJoy Plus worked perfectly with it right away. Now I have bought a second dance pad for simultaneous Stepmania action and I have run into a problem. The basic problem is that I can't use my new Intec Dance Pad on my PC. The problem dance pad is Intec's Ultimate Dance Mat (non-slip and dense foam insert), seen here:
http://www.cduniverse.com/search/xx/games/pid/6751073/a/PS2+Ultimate+Dance+Mat.htm

I'm using WinXP/SP2. When I plug the Intec dance pad into any usb port on my pc and goto the testing area of the game controllers control panel, it shows that my button #4 is blinking irregularly and constantly. It doesn't matter if I have held UP+START+SELECT for 3 seconds or not. The dance pad works fine in a DDR game on the PS1. The same button #4 blinking happens on a second PC as well. Uninstalling the SmartJoy from device manager and having it redetect it doesn't help. I can't enter the calibration area of the game controller because button #4 is constantly activating.

Here are how the buttons map in the test window in Game Controllers Control Panel.

MADCATZ DANCE PAD (works perfect, all controls light solidly in test window)
Up: Button_3 and Axis_Up
Down: Button_2 and Axis_Down
Left: Button_1 and Axis_Left
Right: Button_4 and Axis_Right
Start: Button_9
Select: Button_10
X: Button_7
O: Button_8
Triangle: Button_5
Square: Button_6

INTEC DANCE PAD (problem dance pad, all controls blink sporadically in test window when pressed, button 4 blinks sporadically constantly)
Up: Button_9
Down: Axis_Right
Left: Axis_Down
Right: Axis_Up
Start: Button_12
Select: <none, unless it's button 4>
X: Button_2
O: Button_1
Triangle: Button_8
Square: Button_3

I've gotten the Intec Pad to sort of work with Joy2Key. I was able to map the buttons correctly with Joy2Key, but since when I step on the pad, the buttons are triggered sporadically, I can't score on any steps that have to be held for any amount of time. It almost worked, but it's still unplayable.

As for my experience, I would rate myself an intermediate programmer with many languages, and am a learning electronics beginner but I have successfully modded a PS2 with a 22 solder point modchip. I have some experience with a digital multimeter. Does anyone have any pointers on how I can make this pair work?

Thank you for any feedback,
