What do you do with your arms? My brother video taped me dancing on the DDR today and I noticed I do some weird and unatractive things my arms do when I'm dancing to DDR. I usualy stick them down to my sides and hold them there or hold them in one position. How do you guys do it? Have you ever thought about it? I'm just kinda curious- I wanna change my ways.

When I play I bring my arms back behind my body.

Either noodle arms, or move like a train

I always make a concious effort to do somthing that matches the mood of the song with my arms. If its a legato techno mix, I keep them wavy and flowing. If there are odd, or sudden beats, such as paranoia eternal, I
make my arm movements jerky. Really, as long as you try to get into the mood of the song, I find that your arms naturaly begin to look good.

Unless I focus on keeping them loose, I look like a T. Rex...

i have a tendency of keeping my left arm out. not both, just my left. that combined w/ the typical "PA slouch" makes for an intresting show

well guess i never stopped to think about that, but anywho, im a combination, if i am really into the song and i can easily get a good score i move them to the beat of the musik. however, if its a song in which i have to put a lot of effort into, i dont pay attention to what theyre doing, or i use them to keep my balance.

For 10s that i want to do barless, i look like an airplane. Otherwise, for like stamina draining 8s or 9s, i just put em on a high mod and rape em. =P

Mine are usually at my side when I'm trying to PA, when I'm just playing for fun they usually do something to the beat of the song.

My arms used to go all over the place playing Heavy, especially with new songs. They still do, but it's less wild. I can't doublestep too well, so I use them to counter my legs as I twist a lot. I'm afraid of playing against little kids at the arcade and knocking them over.

I use them to either grab the bar or to help balance myself (e.g. on Holic heavy they fly around like crazy).

I use them mostly for balance. When I'm playing a heavy song I don't know very well, they tend to get a bit out of control and go all over the place, but if I know the steps to the song, they mostly just hang at my sides.

I've also noticed that when I'm doing gallops, I tend to bend my elbows a bit and hold my hands out in front of me, almost like I'm running. When I'm doing a song with lots of crossovers, like Rhythm & Police, they swing around a lot... I often have to tell people not to stand too close while I'm playing.

When I'm playing In The Groove, I use them to hit the arrows. biggrin.gif

It depends on the beat and speed of the song.
