DDR at Home or in an Apartment

This is a two part question, but I'm curious to know:

-What type of surface do most people play on at home? I use an Ignition 2.0 and every room with a TV in my house has wall-to-wall carpeting, which causes a double-cushion when playing with an Ignition. I noticed this is REALLY bad for the pad and I end up getting more greats than I do at school (where I play on a nearly non-existent carpeted floor). Maybe a cobult flux is in order??

-Also, I'll be moving into an apartment come this summer, anyone here have problems with your neighbors if you play on the 2nd and up floors? Any advice (besides trying to get a first floor suite -- which may be possible...)?

I don't know what you mean in the first part, but as far as the second part, my friend and I can't play at his house 'cause his downstairs neighbor doesn't like it. MAX 300 + 2nd floor apartment equals something bad.

Hmm, let me rephrase the first part:

If you've ever played on an Ignition 2.0 on a soft surface (like thick carpeting) and compared that with playing on hard surface (like cement), you'll notice that when you play on the carpet, you sink into both the foam in the pad (very slight, but normal), but then the pad sinks into the carpet a bit. I have looked at the inside of my pad after playing for awhile on carpet and it tears up the inside very easily (sliding + sinking + stretching = tearing) . I'm just wondering if anyone has had similar experiences or if someone has a remedy.

I can definitely relate to the Ignition problem. I usually too play on a carpet, and it isn't great for my score.

I live in a second floor apartment, and I have gotten some complaints from my downstairs neighbour. As a result I usually only play when he is gone (which, luckally for me, is fairly often). That's really the only suggestion I have; ask your neighbour ahead of time what hours he/she works or when they are typically away. Also find out where your neighbour's living room or bedroom is, and try to avoid playing in a room directly above it. That should lessen the impact a bit.

I live on the 32nd floor and play with an ignition and cf on carpeting. Both work fine for me.

cobalt flux with shoes creates lots of noise. i have to limit my play in my apartment because of it
