You know how Ignitions have that black protruding border around the edges? The thing that looks like half of a chevron pattern? It should be rubber on the bottom edge half-chevron thing, just to insure there's less of a chance to move.
I'm sure the pad was designed for use on hard floors, but there should be an add-on that'll make it work on carpet too. |

Red Octane says their Ignition won't slip. That's a load of BS. On my carpet floor, the pad always seems to drift a few inches or more to the right when I play, and I can do heavy songs and some ten footers. >_< Maybe that rubber bottom stops it from slipping on hard floors, but definately NOT carpet. I've had my pad for quite a while, about a year. It's done me well. The stuff on the top starts to come off, but some duct tape does the trick...
Anybody know how to keep my RO ignition from slipping alltogether? |

thanks for the tip considering i didnt know anything about CF's (sarcasm). i think you are missing my point. the point i am trying to get across is that all pads absolutely SUCK (including all ignition-style pads) except metal ones, which are just bad.
and dark_angel, what i did when my ignition started slipping was move the pad to a hard surface and duct tape the bottom to the floor. then I can assure you that it won't move more than an inch every time you play it whether it be a 6 footer or a 10 footer. now all we need to fix about these pads is the deteriorating problem.

I think my RO ignition is officially dead. Pushing up daisys. Done for.
I lasted me well over a year, but now the arrows are torn up so I put duct tape over them, but now the up arrow is giving me problems. Giving me goods and misses when I hit it perfectly. I looked under the up arrow since there is a huge gash on it near the center of the pad, and the plastic stuff with the metal traces which function as the sensors are pretty torn up. Darn. I think I'm gonna buy a regular old RO pad with the cover with my kind of budget. |

I have had my beat-gear for just about a year, and other than the controllers breaking, they have been perfect. I have yet to see anything better to buy. Now, if I could find some real arcade pads, maybe I would upgrade.

Ok, ok, that post was condescending and I apologize for it. But talking about metal pads in a thread about building a good DX/Ignition doesn't do any good. And I disagree that all pads suck. Certainly, most do. Konami's DX pad was great, though. It did have problems, like the material on the bottom layer, which was very smooth and caused some sliding during play. That was easily fixed. The other problem is obviously its availability. That pad was hard to find back when I bought it years ago, and it's even harder to find now. But it's not impossible to build a good DX/Ignition.
As for metal pads, I dunno. I've never played on a metal pad. The local Fry's had them on display before Christmas for I think $150 or $200 each, and they had one to play on as well. I took a look at one, and while I never played on it, it didn't look or feel like it was worth the money. |

i hate the RO's plastic- metallic foil contact system, it tends to wear out too easily, although i can't think of anything that would be better at the moment. My Ideal Ignition/DX pad would have a bottom that would'nt drift as much as the ones out there feelable buttons, *like ro's but more sturdier* and something that lets you use shoes without absolutely destroying the pads on it. xD  |

I don't care if it did moved. It's easy to modify Ignition pads by just using plywood and duct tape =p. As long the pad last for more than 1.5 months LOL.
P.S. Do you know which EBay Ignition pads are good? If possible, name the seller + store [if it has a store], and the description of the pad [how long it will last etc].
One good seller [which I think just disappeared off EBay] was Vortz. Too bad it ain't there anymore x.x;

AznCaraboo- Actually, Vortz is still around on eBay, they just go by a different name for some reason. o_O They go by the name Hydragames now. That link goes to their eBay store. I got two dense foam pads (which are called V6.0, why I don't know) for $60 shipped from them, and they're still going for that price. I found the listings a bit confusing because the auctions that come with a game, they mention the pads are from Vortz, whereas the only mention of Vortz in the auctions without games is in a watermark on the pad images. But I ordered them, and the pads arrived in Vortz boxes, the pad circuit box is marked with Vortz, and the charge on my credit card is from Vortz.
I've had them for a little more than a week and so far, they're good pads. My scores have improved. I can't AAA anything, but I have more SDG scores than before. I'm definitely going to mod them, though. |

Jesus Christ, if you think all DDR pads suck, just don't bother posting here.
Sometimes you have to adapt a bit, I've used a Level Six ignition since I started, and minor slipping should be no problem if you have any coordination whatsoever (which you need to be a decent player...). Sometimes the pad turns slightly to one side; you should be able to adapt to that. Quit complaining and realize DDR is an expensive habit, and that's not changing. |

AHHGGG the store is gone! If anyone can hook me up with were every they have gone please tell! Man that sounded like such a good deal and I was ready to buy it! Any other good ebay retailers that you know of please share I have been look for a good pad for a year  |

The store is gone but the seller is still there. I bought 2 xbox v6.0 ignition dance mats from hydragames today. It's been shipped and everything. There is also another seller vortz_inc but for some reason that seller has higher prices. Go to the eBay website and go to "advanced search" then type in hydragames and vortz_inc where it says "from specific sellers" and in the keywords box type in either "v5" or "v6" depending on what version of the ignition mat you want. They sell xbox, playstation, and dual platform mats. All of them come in pairs but for a great price. Mine was $54.98 including shipping! It is a great deal from trustworthy sellers. Look at their ratings its 99% positive feedback. Here is a link to the listings for hydragames and vortz_inc but I dont know if it will work...

The first Vortz Ignition pad I've got lasted me 6 months. However, the 2nd Vortz Ignition pad lasted me at least 3 months. I just bought another one, and I already have a problem with my 3rd set [the circle button could be pressed between the UP and RIGHT arrow]. Hopefully though this will last me a long time.
Whatever you do - DO NOT USE SOFT INSERTS. Those are not good [personally].

I've dealt with this user a few times. My last ignition pair lasted me 9 months with friends and I playing 9s and 10s. I have a whole list of SDGs and AAAs that I earned on them
(after modification of course)

I am having trouble with mine...when i pushed the donw arrow it hits the left and up arrow to at the same time......when my friends play they dont notice it but they play light and i do heavy what is up and can i fix it..???
