I'm doing an informative speech for a public speaking class on DDr. The main reason i'm posting here is because, as I've been playing this game for 3 years now, I tend to take certain things for granted. I will be presenting DDR to a group who has probably never played, maybe never even heard of it, and I'm just trying to make sure I don't leave any sort of obvious but important detail out when presenting our beloved game. |

Hey I use the bar!!! ...only on hard songs though...
Well for one don't use DDR slang (unless you want to explain it) Like....Matrix walking, Full comboing, Great Attacks, Knee dropping....Stuff like that...heck before I started playing DDR I thought heavy mode was somthing for fat people (embarrassment)
Don't really brag about your skillz, becuase some of them could of tried DDR and like most people's first time, sucked at it bad....
Also be really informative and mention all of its upsides (weight loss, coolness and teh ladies) and you should have a surefire speech... _________________

Wait...TEH LADIES!? Do those come with the game? Cus I sure as hell haven't gotten any!
Actually, oddly enough, girls do seem to like DDR players around here...most of them aren't that attractive, but hey my girls have been, _________________

There are the main details (concept of Japanese rhythm games, coordination, music selection), but nothing's really all that important other than the basics. You go into too much detail without actually showing them the game, they're bound to get bored and/or confused. Be sure to mention the stuff that would appeal to anyone, like competitive play, community (stemming from competition), and exercise...otherwise you'll just sound like a dork describing a video game. =p _________________

I would reccommend never using a word in the dictionary without explaining it. _________________

Hey, sup, I used to do that kind of thing in high school, speak in front of people and stuff. Never about DDR, though. Pretty nifty concept.
My only piece of advice to you is not to either throw terms at them assuming they know it, and on the flip side of the coin, don't talk to them in a pretentious way and assume they know absolutely nothing. How are you planning this speech out? |

Dude, thats why we don't like ppl like that, because they use the bar on the hard songs... that defeats the purpose of playing the game!

If you guys turn this into another bar whining thread, I'm going to lock it.
You could talk a bit about the community of the game. I'm not sure about the rest of the US, but the only game I can think of off the top of my head that has a group of people who regularly hang out and play at the arcade is DDR.
Not to mention certain fansites. |

Sorry dude, I just got a little emotional. I mean, *sniff*, all of that hard work not to use the bar, and all of these dudes do better than us because they do use the bar... *sob* can u juss give me a moment of silence for us who play ddr the real way? But i guess u can play the game how u want, I mean, it's better to play with the bar than with a controller . |
