Wha uh-oh..
The top arrow went nuts.
So I opened it and discovered that the yellow wire detached itself from the sensor.
Nothing some soldering can't fix.
Plus adding a thin layer of some kind of cloth in there to protect it from getting torn again.
Since I didn't have a solder I used duct tape. Yeah, I'm awesome.
It works great now... but for how long.. _________________

I have actually decided to unscrew all the arrow panels on all my metal pads and reinforce them with duct tape to prevent (hopefully) the wires from detaching themselves.
Bah, good idea? _________________

Heh, I have 1 RO metal pad, and I think it works great. I havent had any problems at all, and I play with it all the time. Though, I do feel stupid because once I recieved my pad, I went online to find more info on it, and I found out about CF, and I got mad because now I know that CF is better than RO... I just dont have the money for it. _________________

I hear that an Xbox lead is just a USB lead with a different end conector. Does that mean you can make it into a USB dance pad and use it on a PC? (Obviously drivers are needed...) _________________

my RO mat works fine, except for one thing. it doesn't stick anymore. by that i mean, my shoes don't stick on the arrows like they used to. i even used windex to clean the pad and my shoes, but it doesn't stick. does anyone know why? _________________

I am thinking about getting a refurbished one of these, is it worth it?I don't want to spend to much money on a metal pad so this seems like it is the best thing. If there is something diffrent that is better and is in the one-two hundred dollar price range, let me know. Thanks |

hello everyone, im new to the forums....I just bought the Red Octane metal pad..im quite happy with it, its just is there a way to tone down the squeaking noise it makes sometimes when I step on the arrows? Also as far as the arrows cracking goes. does the part I step on crack? Or does parts inside the arrow crack, cause I notice when i move the pad on its side i can hear parts moving around. Other than that its a great pad |

my control box for my RO metal pad has a loose wire. My right arrow doesn't work anymore. I opened up my control box, and i couldn't figure out where that wire would have came from. Kinda hoping someone here can help me. I emailed RO, they wouldn't give out any layout diagrams. frown.gif So if someone can just make a layout of the PCB and the DB15, that would be awesome, If that is too much work. At least tell me where the black wire for the right button goes. :-\ Please and thankyou
ps: you should read the conversation with me and RO, it is hilarious

Very unhappy with my experience with the RO metal pad.
I purchased one on Jan 27th, and got it in the middle of February. 5 days later the left arrow quit working. I had to package it all up and send it back for exchange. Finally got my replacement pad today, and the pad they sent to replace the old one is horribly warped. It doesn't lay flat on the floor, so it rocks all over the place and is completely unplayable. At this point I am just going to ask for a refund. |

I just got my RO metal pad, and I have a serious problem. When I stand on the left arrow, the right won't register, and if I'm standing on the down arrow, up won't register. Anyone know what this is and if it's an easy fix or do I need to send it back (a major pain in the buttocks). _________________

Unless you want to rewire the entire circuit board, I don't know, send it back. Sorry _________________

I just got two RO metal pads a few nights ago. My first impression was...wanting to kill something. Right out of the box, you had to stomp on the arrows to get them to register. I was getting frusterated, as I was getting Bs or Cs on songs I usually A or AA. Then I came here, saw this 116 reply-deep thread, and got my ray of hope. Seems like everyone says that you need to wear the pads in. So, I've been playing on them for an hour or two every night, and yes, they have gotten more sensitive. Once this weekend rolls around, I'll have more time to analyze if it was worth my $400 or not.

Yeah, I get the same thing. I figure it must just be "settling" or something.

just got my ro back, which died just out of warranty(right arrow died completely), but due to christmas warranty extention, i got lucky. so i get it back and, the start button is stuck on, i cannot play at all. thats total garbage. and the pad itself looks really shoddy, just like my last one. but this isnt going to fly. im going to try to get a new controller box for free, since i opened it and i think they soldered poorly. i know a bit about electronics, and the soldering looks really bad, like they may have soldered a few connections together out of poor workmanship. i also blame quality control, this is just pathetic. so, after this is cleared up, im done doing business with red octane. period. this is the last straw. i urge others to steer clear completely, and im sorry that itg is going to be in any way connected with this company. |

Well, I loved the Ignition pad, but the metal pads are really not that great. Its been a week or so, the pad has gotten more sensitive, but it still isn't that "arcade experience." I would love to get my hands on an actual arcade look alike, but there seems to be nothing like the arcade pads on the market. Too bad.
Conclusion: If you get new RO metal pads, they're OK after a week or so of breaking in, but if you want something high quality, look elsewhere. _________________

My down arrow keeps getting stuck. I'm pretty sure it's stuck in the pressed position and not just compleatly unresponsive because the lights around it stay lit up. I can unstick it by jumping on it very hard, but it eventaulyl gets stuck again. What do i need to do, tighten or loosen some screws or something? _________________

hey everybody. i have a pad, one of those Fry's pads... the older version... got it off a friend... ive been using it for quite sometime now, and it has been much fun. but then the acryllic started cracking and stuff like that... when i first used it i didnt wear shoes..so when u land on ur heels, it would probably crack... then i decided to wear shoes whenever i play and it stopped cracking... well... now all 4 arrows are cracked, very ugly i admit. and now the worst case, the right sensor is acting up... it keeps sending a signal to the controller and then to the ps...in other words, it keeps pressing the right arrow even when i take out the acryllic piece, with the metal slide attached... i think perhaps my right sensor is broken, what should i do? |
