Do any of you think DDR is dead, or in the process of dying? And do any of you know or think Konami of Japan will ever release a new DDR Mix Arcade Machine that will come to America?

DDR, releasing a new mix-wise, has been dead for some time now. But with new players all the time, I guess it won't truly die until we let it.
Anyways, this topic has been hotly debated for some time now, in countless threads, so use the search feature first.

Konami said they would release one when nobody would expect it. At the moment, pretty much everyone thinks DDR is dead, so now would be the time to release one if they were sticking to their plan.

Note: This theory is based completely on the fact that I really want a new DDR mix.

Where did Konami say that they would release a new mix? I've heard many things, but nothing even remotely close to that. Look at Pop'n Stage and Dance eighty-something point something McSomething. They're obviously thinking ahead. If you want new dancing games, play Pump, In The Groove, Pop'n Stage or Dance eighty-McEtc (Or, you could always just move to Europe, where they're releasing a new Dancing Stage). Don't just make stuff up in the product of your hope that they will release another.

What a lie.

Konami has specifically stated that they are "on hiatus".

I think a new mix will come someday, and that people who believe it to be dead are seriously idiots. It's like OMG we haven't had a mix in 2 years, it must be dead. Heck, it's still even alive in console games. THEY'RE STILL EVEN MAKING ARCADE MACHINES IN EUROPE.

Just look at fighter games. They go years between releases sometimes, but are certainly nowhere near from dead.

Chipp is right.

Dancing Stage Fusion! Go to the arcade section of the site.

I also recently heard news that ddr games have reached platinum status in america so that definately shows that ddr isn't dead. at least in america. And I also heard about ddr being on a hiatus instead of officially being cancelled. If there is to be a new game, it might be released in america. But I wouldn't hold my breath.

request lock.

as the mods have repeatedly said, nobody knows if konami will make a new mix. period. the stuff about konami 'retiring' their arcade branch is bullcrap. anything that can be said about this topic is mere speculation.

The highly respected and talented Tyler Harding (Dyaus) sent a heavily publicized letter to a dev rep at Konami of Japan. In the letter, the dev rep sadly informed him that there was not another mix scheduled or in development at the present time and "not to wait for it."

The link was on the old global BBS, anyone still have it?

I don't know.
It would be really foolish to trash the idea of another arcade mix, when DDR is so popular across the world.

IMO i think konami is just going to spring a new mix on us, mainly because of what they did with beatmania. they released the 8th mix of beatmania and called it the "FINAL" mix...then some time later (dont know exactly how long) they release beatmania IIDX so i mean c'mon why kill something when its at its height of popularity? (im talking in the states dont really know how its doing in japan)

Because it's completely dead in Japan. Nobody plays. At all. And Japan is their only legal market.

Also IIDX was like 8 months or so. DDR has been like 2+ years.
