No, I'm not. The post immediately before mine said the timing window for home versions was 35 ms. I didn't even mention Stepmania. _________________

So theses setting would best mimic the arcade (Extreme) then? _________________

That's my exact point. Home version is irellevant. This forum is for simulators, Step Mania. Home version doesn't even have timing window options.

For as far as all of the DDR Forums have stated...so yes. |

I know you can't change the home version timings. Like I said, I was not talking about Stepmania. The post before mine said the timing for the home versions was 35, but I'm pretty sure it's 50 ms, so I corrected Dark Luke (or whoever posted that). That's all. _________________

Oh sorry, I didn't know you were correcting somebody. I thought you were trying to say something irrelevant to the topic discussion. |

okay, upon further review i am POSITIVE that these timings are harder than the arcade. i went to the arcade and got 36 greats on am-3p but when i play it at home with these timings i rarely break 50. |

Do you use an USB Adapter?
USB Adapters are laggy.
The Arcade is much more precise than Stepmania/the PC.
Just the USB Adapter has very much lag, and USB is limited to an update rate for devices at 8ms. That makes the feeling clumsy.
The Timing should be around 30 ms for Extreme, so this should be correct.
I'm currently working on ways to reduce the lag on Stepmania and the timing feels okay so far.
I'm going to write a thread or something about my modifications soon, but at first I'm gonna try if Linux has less lag than Windows. |

As it was mentioned earlier, you can't manually change the timing window on stepmania with the notepad file, but go to options on the main page and find the set judging option (I think it's under machine options) and set it to 4. That is almost exactly the arcade difficulty. |

The USB Adapter is not always very laggy. It depends on the brand. The "super dual box" (the blue one) is perfect. There is no flaw in it. |

Yeah, and the super dual box is the one I use so I'm pretty sure its the timing windows. |

Neil1337, sorry, but if it is set to 4, well, I can AAA almost every song on Extreme. 4 is NO WHERE NEAR arcade. YES, you CAN change it manually, in Stepmania.ini. Also, it wasn't mentioned earlier.
EDIT: Don't double post. Just use the edit button. Like I did. _________________

I noticed this with the 8th Mix timings:
The boo timing is WAY off, as in it counts it as a "Boo" from as much as an 8th-note away. Can anyone fix this? Thanks, it's quite annoying, I can't keep 8th-note beats. _________________

Aren't the timing windows for the 8th Mix Arcade:
Marvelous window = 1/60 of a second
Perfect window = 2/60 of a second
Great window = 4/60 of a second
Good window = 5/60 of a second
Boo window = 8/60 of a second
So wouldn't it make sense for the timing windows to be:
JudgeWindowScale=1.000000
JudgeWindowBooSeconds=0.133333
JudgeWindowGoodSeconds=0.083333
JudgeWindowGreatSeconds=0.066667
JudgeWindowMarvelousSeconds=0.016667
JudgeWindowOKSeconds=0.250000
JudgeWindowPerfectSeconds=0.033333

Test it out and see how it goes I'll try too but my judgement with this stuff sucks...the only thing I see a problem with the original 8th mix timings posted before is that the boo judgement is WAY out there. Should be smaller in my own honest opinion. Try to hit an arrow every 8th note, and hit it as the same arrow coming up. It counts it as a boo. That cant be right. _________________

I tried changing
JudgeWindowSecondsBoo=0.191666
to
JudgeWindowSecondsBoo=0.171666
And it feels just about right. Way less boos, but it dosent screw up on half note beats, you get a good once in a while. Try that, see how it feels. _________________
