Hi, the real question is : On what logic you use the left foot instead of the right one when your doing a song? OR when you see an upcomming commun pattern of arrows, is there some ordered steps to take if you wanna be effective?
What i mean is, most of the time at light mode, you can use whatever foot you like when you see the arrow comming cause its quite ez and even if the foot you picked isnt the best most effective one, you always have a chance to come back with the other foot and still get an A at the end. But you cant do that at standard or Heavy level.
Im still a 1-week beginner at DDR even tho ive done couples of A and double AA at light mode, i tryed standard mode and it seems that you cant just do whatever you want no more. Thats why im asking this, do i have to concentrate on using the correct foot right away on light mode even if it feels odd sometimes , knowing that in higher level this method will help me a lot?
Exemple : At light mode, in "End of century" song, all the down and left arrows can be done by the left foot and all the up and right arrows can be done with the right foot. So you simply separate the screen in two parts : left and right. You easily get an A.
BUT if you play another song like "Busy Child", you CANT do that, you have to follow some logic cause your sure to miss some steps cause of the freeze and bizarre moves. It looks like some songs are easier depending on the method you use, is there an universal way to play to be effective most of the time whatever the type of song is playing?
Ty for helping this newb, im sure i'll feel stupid in a month or two for asking this (dont be shy to pm me, i need help) |

best recemmendation is to actually get used to using both feet for every arrow. also you'll want to start practicing cross overs. steps like left up right, left down right are a couple of basic examples (you can look under the tips and guide dictionary for better explanation). as to a more specific answer to your question, step how it is most comfortable and easiest to take the next step. to do this you'll want to read a couple of arrows ahead, so you know where your next step(s) are, then can place your feet accordingly. just keep practicing and soon it will become natural to you. sorry if it is not as simple an answer as you might have been hoping for, pm me and i'm more then willing to help you out some more. _________________

Exactly what Zypher said. Try to alternate your feet whenever possible. That will eventually entail learning crossovers, but just concentrate to switching up your feet for now. As for which foot to actually start a certain patter on, go with what's concenient for situation. For example, if a pattern starts on the right foot, use the right foot for that arrow. If it starts on down or up, use whichever foot you feel comfortable with (and of course depending on what the next arrow is).
Eventually you'll feel more comfortable with your foot placement and won't even have to think about which foot should go where. It just takes time. |

do you mean when you have a conflict of what foot to use when certain arrows come up?
because I have that sometimes and totally mess up my combo then get really fustrated and sometimes at home on the soft pads my feet somes get confused then I step somewhere in the middle then my feet get tangled. _________________

Ty for all your precious advices.
I know if i can read a couple of arrows ahead, i'll have more chance to pick the correct foot so the rest of the steps will go on just fine most of the time.
But i was wondering, what if the BPM is so fast that i can read the 2-3 upcomming arrows only, is there a knowed "universal" way to pick your left/right foot depending on these 2-3 upcomming ones?
Cause like ghosx suggest, yes, sometimes i have a conflict of what foot to use when certain arrows comes up and that totally mess up my combo. Then after failing, i retry the song slowly using a different approch with my foots, and it looks a lot more obvious to play that way.
Anyways, i guess i'll figure it out sooner or later. |
