Well, I just bought one of these Super Dual Boxes. I hooked it up with my Konami Soft Pad (the one that comes with DDRMax2 Bundle). First of all, the down button does not register. The double steps don't work either. I did try the Up/Start/Select code, and still nothing. Then I tried a DualShock2 PS2 controller and all the buttons worked fine, including the double steps.

I think this a bad mat/adapter combo. Did anyone have success with a Konami Softpad/Super Dual Box? Anything I can do?

If I can't do anything, looks like I'll need to get a new pad. E2.gif My parents are like, "You said you only needed the adapter, and said that you didn't need anything else." I don't like spending money, so buying a pad is gonna be a last resort. E13.gif Does the Ignition 2.0 work well with the Super Dual Box? That is the only pad I like, but I'd have to fish out $100. disgust.gif

As for now, I am playing DDRMax2 on PS2. laugh.gif

All adaptor questions go on the following thread: http://www.ddrfreak.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=89207

It is a sticky. Please look at the stickies first.

Yeah, I did try that first. I figured out it was a bad pad/adapter combination. Would this question still fit under the adapter sticky? erm.gif

yes. go post there. also, don't bother with the konami soft pads, those things wear out after a couple weeks. if you want to play at home, get some ignition pads.

Use a Red Octane Ignition Dual Platform Edition pad. Not to much and it works fine.

That's the first time I've heard someone say the RO Ignition is "not too much". Those are the most expensive Ignition-style pads you can buy anywhere. erm.gif

The phrase "not too much" is a relative comparison and because it's subject to opinion, it's easy for some to shoot it down. I would say several pads out there are "not too much" compared to...oh...let's say a Cobalt Flux Doubles Pack...~$680.00 after shipping...so long as we're not limiting our discussion to Ignition Pads.

But to the original discussion, I would say buy a EMS USB2 Playstation to USB adapter. Though it doesn't look as cool, it does allow you to hook up a gun to it if you ever decide to play some of those awesome shooting games (time crisis...). It's also a dollar less than the Super Dual Box and they work. And you can hook up two pads, just like the Super Dual Box.

I have personally seen them work without inputing in any code, which you shouldn't have to do, and they have great compatibility with most DDR setups. They're well recommended on the stepmania USB adapter listing...if they'd ever get it back up...and start releasing new versions...but again I digress...

To dubz original dilemma, I would say try to get a refund. You shouldn't limit your options based on the adapter you have. That may not be feasible in your current situation however, in which case this can just be another lesson where more money is the solution to everything...seriously though, do the research and be more careful before you spend your money...that's one of the reasons why these forums are here.

Please dont bump the topic knowing its in the wrong section anyways, RomeoJoe86. Further discussion should go in the sticky.
