I got my Swap Magic and 1st party Konami Beatmania controller and a choice between buying IIDX 7th style and 8th style? Im not that hardcore of a beatmania player but I can only get one right now, so any one got any reccomendations or any good points about it.

It's up to you what you want to buy.

They're honestly both excellent. You can pretty much decide this one with a coin toss. I don't think either one is really any better suited for beginners (i.e. all IIDX games but 3rd are pretty damn tough at first).

Wouldn't 3rd style actually be one of the hardest for newbs? Since there is no begginer mode.

3rd Style certainly isn't what I'd call "easy", but being early in the series, the note charts tend to be easier. And while 5th-8th might have a few Beginner charts that are VERY easy compared to 3rd Style L7, it's only a handful that are accessible. So 3rd Style would probably have the most versatility for a new player, as a vast majority of the L7 and even 7K charts are relatively tame. But I still wouldn't recommend it without spending at least a couple months with a 5-key game first.

I think I learned pretty quickly on 5th style. The soundtrack is also pretty good. I haven't had a chance to play 8th style but I didn't really think the soundtrack was all that great. I LOVED 7th's styles soundtrack and enjoyed playing it. The two secret tracks were great also.

I used 6th style when learning. Personally I'd suggest 6th or 7th for beginners. I honestly didn't like the beginners mode on 8th style. Not only does 6th have beginner, it also has drill which is fun and keeps you working at the small bits of songs they give you.
