Put your parents' fear to rest; it will not happen unless you have a weak flooring. I believe that it's okay upstairs as long as you don't have people living under you that'd be pissed off by the vibrations or sounds of your stomping/playing.
I personally have my DDR in the living room on the second floor and directly under it is the garage so I'm cool. I play nines on my Official Konami softpad and I have not fallen down to the bottom. _________________

I play on the third floor of an apartment building, so unless your house is ghetto and was built improperly you should be fine. |

I have mine in my basement. I dont see why you should be stomping so hard that it would fall through the floor. |

It's impossible unless your house was poorly made. If you can run around your house and not fall down then it should be DDR safe. _________________

Ya, really. Unless your house is like 100+ years old you're set. Think of it this way. If you're able to put a large entertainment center on the top floor, or hell, a bed, you're good. _________________

I played at a friend of mine's apartment the other day with three other people and it felt like we were shaking the place down. Still, none of us fell through the floor.
My guess is if you're worried about falling through the floor, DDR is probably not the issue...and it's time to go shopping for a stronger house.
However...just to be sure, I suggest you run upstairs and jump up and down a lot. If the house does not cave in, you're safe for DDR Extreme. |

If possible, put in a basement or something. You won't break through the floor necessarily, but I know when it was in my living room, picture got knocked over and stuff fell on walls...lol
A basement or garage is the best place to play. Then people don't doggy at you, really.
EDIT I love what this forum does when you try to say b*tch. _________________

It's interesting you ask. I play MAX2 and Extreme with an Ignition 2.0 on the second floor for three to five hours a day, two to three days a week. I've had it for about a month and a half now. The house was built in 1918, but it's strong for its time.
Guess what,
the ceiling's already starting to crack and the pads are going out.
I'm buying a metal pad and playing in the basement. With a projector and old Pioneer sound system. |
