Well, I think I would just be satisfied if my boyfriend would actually just RESPECT my interests and not necessarily love DDR. In other words, someone who doesn't say "OMG you play that loser game for kids?" and just says "Sure, have fun with your dance game." Unrealistic but at least he shouldn't bash it and just let me do my thing.

its not all its cracked up to be you know. there are a number of things about it that suck. in fact lets play Pros and Cons with Maxx 999!
Pros
1)You can actually play DDR when on a date!
2)She won't get on you for "wasting" time with a loser game!
3)If you ever get into an arguement, resolve it over a PA battle!
4)You can impress your friends at DDRFreak!
5)HOPEFULLY, among other things, you'll have ANOTHER common interest!
Cons
1)You lose ALOT of money if you take her out to the arcade
2)At home, you'll have a thirst for DDRMAX and realize she "borrowed" everything but Extreme US
3)If you suck at PA, *whiplash sound!*, you whipped, boy!
4)If she visits DDRFreak, she'll bust a cap in yo' ass in front of everyone
5)She might only be with you to get some DDR money off of you

which apply to YOU?
for me its
Pros-1, 2, 3, and 5
Cons-1 and 2

I realize this topic is old, but what the hey.. I might as well put in my two cents since this conversation has been brought up in person.

I think that a girlfriend who plays DDR is a little bit overrated, since the pros and cons do apply here as mentioned eailer.... BUT! It is nice to share common intrests, in fact my girlfriend and I got eachother intrested in DDR so we kind of intrudoced it to eachother, since we have introduced eachother to Bemani in general.. But in turn it also gets on eachothers nerves sometimes since we both are intrested and we get into intense conversations about it. And yes we do spend tons of money at the arcade, but at least to us, its not bad at all. I do agree with some people in saying "you can solve any argument by playing veruses" but the question of "which mix is your favorite" can turn into a huge argument in itself.. Think about it...
You: "I like Extreme"
She: "But I dont like extreme! Lets play the 5th mix, that has Petit Love on it"

Its nice to have common intrests with your girlfriend/boyfriend, but really Bemani can cause more arguments than its worth.

The girl I used to play DDR with on a regular basis ended up being a pretty mean person outside of the arcade. frown.gif

My DDR ex-girlfriend no longer plays anymore. She now works at Esta-Lauder (spelling error, I know).

Oh well

It would be nice to be with someone that you share the same interests, Albeit DDR or anything else. Perhaps more important than a common hobby is to have someone you can open up to and know that they will be there for you. I usually play with regulars or help someone new get better; that way I make a lot of acquantinces that may became friends. Sometimes it is nice to play alone, because I usually play the high end of difficulty songs (edits, 9's,10's) which I can't play if I am always playing two player. Also doubles are fun, which if you had a significant other, they might feel rejected. As for me, I am single so it goes both ways. Do I wish I was with someone into DDR? It might be nice but I would rather be with someone I can meet on an emotional and intellectual level. Sighs, I have given up on that though.

Ok, I will admit, its nice to have someone whom you can meet with on an intelligent level of sorts, but really.. Having someone who plays DDR does have its advantages... Oh well it goes both ways... This seems to be the question that everyone has a say in. Dont ask me why, but it just is. btw I dont think my girlfriend is on here biggrin.gif

I do agree with the playing alone factor, in which I did make the mistake and my girlfriend didnt talk to me for like a week after i was playing alone and she felt rejected by me. Cause i was playing vurses against this one 10 yr. old that knew how to play standard, which i thought was cool.. So we ended up playing, and before i knew it she was gone. I'am glad to say we're still together but that day i learned a very important lesson.. That was "Its nice to have a girlfriend who plays DDR, but ignore her and you will wish you didnt have a girlfriend who played DDR"

Theres my four cents (so far)

Personally, I'd LOVE to have a girlfriend who plays DDR. It's one of my most favorite hobbies, aside from arcade shooters 'n beatmania biggrin.gif
Girls who play games rock in my book... you've agreed to put away the mall, the makeup, and the magazines for Fun, Fragz, 'n Full Combo's. E4.gif

Sorry I think I'll stay where I'm at laugh.gif

To turn the subject around a little....I like having a boyfriend that plays ddr. I didn't really think that ddr would be fun or anything. Then he talked me inton playing....see I had been playing step mania and stuff so I started on standard so that was great....and I'm doing heavy stuff now. I only get to play like 3-4 times a month....but to start on standard and to be able to pass heavy songs now means alot to me.....

and I wouldn't have been able to do that without him...... biggrin.gif

My boyfriend seems to think it's nice. And yes, I'm better than him. E4.gif We only play together on occasion though any more. We share a lot of other interests so DDR isn't exactly the glue of our relationship by any means.
