i have been noticing that in fast songs with crossovers (particularly exotic ethnic) my pad slides around a lot, not usually in the down-right or down-left crossovers but in the up-right and up-left ones. is there any modification i can use to make my CF have more friction on the ground, cause the grip tape stuff they give you with the pad just doesnt seem to cut it.

The easiest 'mod' is to run to a Target/Wal-Mart and get some rug grip material. I use that stuff under my Flux on all kinds of surfaces and it never moves an inch (even on concrete and gymnasium floors).

I know this may seem like a stupid qeustion, but I'm trying to set up my CF for PIU play as well. How do I activate the center button? Is it just taking off the panel and removing the cardboard blocking the sensor (what I've heard) or something different? I feel like such a noob right now...

Nope, you got it right. Just take out the cardboard under the center panel and it'll be ready for play. If you're planning on using the CF with PIU Exceed, you'll have mapping problems, but if you're using it with PIU Stepmania, it will work just fine.

what kind of mapping problems? I've never really been a fan of the whole Stemania series of things, so I was going to use it for home releases.

Earlier releases of PIU should be fine, but PIU Exceed uses a dance pad with a USB connector. Flux owners can't plug into the PS2 USB ports, so we have to rely on the controller mappings in the game. For Exceed, those mappings are L1/L2/R1/R2 and X. The Flux control box won't map the corner panels to the Lx/Rx buttons, so it'll be useless for Exceed.

The only way to make it work, then, would be to create a custom control box.

But again, this appears to be the case only for Exceed. Other older releases should work.

UPDATE: I have Exceed now, and I have confirmed it won't work with the standard CF control box. There's no way to remap the controls within Exceed.

The wait is getting excruciating... and I'm barely halfway there.

hah

order placed 1/2/05

twiddling thumbs...

still being built frown.gif

I was tempted in buying a cheap metal pad to keep me busy until my CF arrives.

If they are on schedule, Mine should ship out in a few days ^^

Mmmnnn... after reading about the CF pad it sounds really good and i totally want it!! Only problem is the cost... my parents are forcing me to make a Power Point presentation in front of some family friends so that they might donate some money!! (although i think the main point is to give me some experience on giving presentations.. but still!
Is the CF pad it?? I sure hope so~!

You're going to post that presentation on the net when you're done, right? E1.gif

Make sure there are lots of sound effects. And charts. And make things sliiiiide in from the right. People love that.

My brother got this pad for xmas...and all I can say is, WOWWWWWWWWWWWW!!!!

It got me back into DDR, and it's great being able to play on a hard pad that is pretty similar to the arcades :)

I give it an A.

Hey everybody...

In case any X-box users are considering getting a CF pad...

I just got an e-mail from Brian over at CF. According to him, they had a slight delay in their development of their X-box control box. However, he expects that it will become available for sale within the next couple of months biggrin.gif

I know you can use a PS2-->X-box converter, but if I'm gonna drop six bills on a set of dance pads, I don't wan't any 3rd party converters causing performance degradation.

Just thought you might like to know...

Wow, that's the same thing they said in December, 2003. And March, 2004. And September, October, November, December 2004 as well. E15.gif

The last month I heard mentioned was February, 2005, which, technically, is within the next couple of months, but it's one of those "I'll believe it when I see it" things.

he needs to loosen the screws so none of the arrows are bowed, that should fix sensitivity. the entire set of panels should all be flat.

on another note

I placed my order on 1/02/05

status is still "Being Built"

there are others that have placed it 3 weeks ago on the 12/26/04 and its still status "Being Built"

So I assume anyone orderiing after Christmas will have to wait an entire month for it to arrive.
