You can probably buy some replacement arrows on CF's website too. _________________

Attention Red Octane Pad Owners! I've got a question about the pad for you. I've seen a couple places written down that the pad "has lights", but the official website doesn't list them. Could somebody please explain if it indeed does have lights, and if so, where these lights are at on the pad? Do the arrows themselves light up? From some of your posts it sounds like it. If so, when do they light up? For example, when I step on the left arrow, what lights up? Just the left arrow?
Forgive me if it sounds like a stupid question. I'd explain why I am asking, but this is not the correct forum for that. Thanks in advance.
Another proposal (perhaps wrong area to post, but it will get the right audience here, so please forgive this). If anyone has one of these pads that is broken, and would like to sell it to me so I can take it apart and see how it works, PM or email me. Don't post here, we'll get in trouble.

im not sure where you heard that, because im pretty sure it isnt true. ROs do not light up, but im sure you could mod them to light up if you really want to. _________________

Thanks. There are other pads that do light up, and I found some information on those. I appreciate the help. |

Hey man, i got my pad 2 Christmases ago and it eventually broke and i got a CF. But it has 3 tiny red lights on each side of the arrow. when you press left, left lights up for a short moment. It doesn't look cool though. _________________

It's possible though, that's what I needed to know. I'm going to come up with a schematic for us homebuilders to do it on our own. Thanks. |

So I thought I was getting a 'deal' by getting a refurbed pad off of eBay. How wrong I was.
The first pad RedOctane sent me was literally broken on arrival. The left arrow didn't function at all. I sent that back, and more than a month later, they finally sent me my 'replacement' pad.
Well, the pad 'works'...kinda. It's the most unresponsive thing I've ever used. The arrows have to be hit just right, or they don't register at all. If you don't put down a good amount of weight ( aka - far more than is required on my arcade DDRs pad ), the arrows don't register. I can't do Naoki Standard with this thing, much less my normal Paranoia Brothers.
It's a POS. I'm thinking about packing it up, sending it back, and telling them I'm not interested anymore. I loved my RedOctane Ignition 2.0 pads, but they both eventually broke down. Since I wanted a metal pad, I decided to go with RedOctane again. They sure as hell let me down this time.
My pad can't sense anything. It's worthless. Maybe they pay RedOctane people to come onto DDRFreak forums and say great things about their pads, but I want to say that this thing STINKS. I love the feel of the pad, but since it won't register arrows when I hit them, that kind of kills that thrill.
Buy a Cobalt Flux and get used to playing on a flat surface. At least the arrows will register, and you won't end up with a 40 lb. hunk of metal that needs trashed. |

i strongly disagree with the above post. i have heard of ROs breaking, but im sure it can happen to even CFs, and andy other metal mat. i have had mine for about a month now, and i play about 1 1/2 hours or more of intense play everyday. so far, i really like my RO metal mat, and its even more responsive now than the day i got it (it had to be broken in for about a week). _________________

I just received my refurbished metal pad from RedOctane off of eBay a few days ago.
So far it works great except for an out of place peace of metal strip between the right arrow and the "B" panel which gets smashed sometimes and makes a loud noise.
Though that's easily fixable.
If something goes wrong with it in the next 30 days I'll let everyone know (if anyone cares). _________________

pay a visit to the CF forum. nothing but good posts there on CFs. and if CFs DO break then its after a long while. if youre on a tight budget go with RO but if youre willing to spend the extra bit o money then its DEFINATELY worth getting a CF or 2... or 3... a dozen...

Not much to report here.
I fixed that metal strip problem but it seems one of the screw holes in the woods is cracked so the screw is loose. But that's okay because it doesn't really get in the way.
Hopefully this thing will last.
Else I'll probably get a CF. _________________

Hello,
I'm ready to buy my metal pad. I'll buy this pad, the RedOctane Metal Pad. I would very like play with it on my PS2 of course and my computer (Stepmania). RedOctane sells also an adaptor named RedOctane Dual USB Adaptor. I read that adaptor isn't compatible with all the soft/metal pads.
Please I would like to know if that adaptor is compatible with that Pad
Thank you very much. |

All of the arrows on my RO pad have major cracks in them, exept the two corner arrows of course.. It lasted for two years, and still worked even with all of the cracks. I put duct tape on all of the arrows last week so I wouldn't get cut by the dance pad. It is bad, I know.. It works ok for the meantime, but in a couple of months I'm getting a CF or two.. The down arrow doesn't have the brackets to hold it in anymore, so it came out when I was playing Cartoon Heroes on heavy. The only real flaw in this pad I can see is that the arrows don't last very long for people who like to play really complex songs.

My RO Metal pad is on it's way from redoctane.com. Is it true that a lot of people can get fake ones off ebay? And those have very poory made parts? _________________

They're not "fake", they're just other models of metal pads. You don't go around calling a Ford car a "fake BMW", do you? Anyways, most of what you find on EBay are worse quality than the RO pad, but they're also a lot less expensive, just like a Ford is usually cheaper than a BMW but made from lower quality parts. |

well, it happened today. the right arrow on my ro is gone completely. i checked all my connections, so the problem is in the sensor(i think), but i cant open it up to see, because the thing is screwed together waaaay too tightly. so i think ill send it back, but im not sure what the warranty is on one of these. ive had this thing since mid december 04, shipping label on the box says it shipped november 29th. |

With this pad if an arrow breaks or a sensor goes dead can you buy a new arrow/sensor from RO and if so how much does it cost _________________
