| Well, a buddy of mine gave me a load of songs. Somewhere in teh region of 3000-4000. Now the issue I have is loading uyp stepmania takes forever and switching between screens can be from 15 to 40 seconds. I have a AMD XO 2000 and 512 megs of ram. Should I increase the ram or is there another option I can choose or alter to speed things up now? |

Enable quick load or fast load in options I'm not sure what it's called exactly. Also, play as many as you can and just delete any sims that suck.

How could you have 4,000 songs? I have a little under 300, and I could see myself havin MAYBE 500, but I'm pretty happy with just my Keyboard MegaPack and a load of other original and official songs.

| According to the song count in Stepmania, the last number counted is 6,173 songs. Now some are repeats and I'm slowly going threw them and getting rid of the doubles. Overall, there is a good mix of songs to choose from. A bit much but a good selection. Quick Load? Isn't that for when you first start up stepmania? |

| i only have about 1620 songs, i think its alot because i cand really find anymore, but it loads relatively fast for me. For a fresh install of a new version of SM, it usually takes longer, cause its a fresh boot. but on a regular load, it takes about 2 minutes. |

The intial load when starting the program takes about 2 to 3 minutes. When you get into the game, it takes about 20-30 seconds before the song wheel will load. I have a feeling it's the amount of songs I have. But I'm curious if adding more ram will help things at all.
As for the songs, I would say out of the 6,000+ songs I have, there are some awesome ones, and terrible ones. It will take me awhile to go through the list and get rid of the junk files. |
