Hi.
I have a new pad of the soft variety.. vynil-like cover over styrofoam inserts. Nicely sensitive. Decent starter pad (as far as I can tell, since I'm starting out).
It was shipped in freezing cold, so the vynil got stiff (as it will) and there is a small tear in the surface. This *WILL* grow as I use the pad.
Is it ok (and advisable) to go ahead and patch it with a bit of duct tape?

Yea im guessing if its a small tear you could tape it up real good otherwise i would advise you to send it back if you think it could be torn easily _________________

If it's the bottom of the pad then you need not worry. You'll probably want that pad to be lasting as long as possible so you should mod the pad. The one that I'm thinking about is the Plywood Mod. It's basically where you staple the pad's bottom on to a piece of plywood as it makes the pad last longer. _________________

Thanks for the tips.
The small tear is along the edge of one of the squares, not in the middle. I don't think it would be right to send it back because it really does look like a result of temperature during shipping (and you just can't go warm-shipping everything in the world!).
Besides, if I stick with this thing for any length of time, I'll want a sturdier pad anyway, so I don't need this to last forever! And (as noted above) I'm old and tired, so I won't use it for hours and hours every day. Maybe an hour a day until I work up real energy.
Thanks again.
