Idea for creating steps! Please read.

I have this idea since I don't know how to make steps for songs for stepmania. Here it is:

I find a song I want and put the mp3 file into the folder I want. Then using mixmeister see what the BPM is. Next I would find a song out of the 400 something I have that has the same BPM. I would copy that dwi file and then use those steps but then use the edit sync mode in the game to change them. I put a lot of thought into this lol. Anyone think it'll work? I mean I have a bg and a png file for the song allready I used photoshop to make them. Please reply and thanks for reading.

i guess so I didn't really think of it that way. I mean when people put their work to download anyone can do what they want with it once they've downloaded it. I don't really think of it as cheating but more creative. lol BUt yeah I tested it and it worked. GO ME!!! I have Bring Me TO Life trance mix on SM now. I love evanescence.

Of course it will work if the BPM's are correct. The gap value is probally off though. Plus, if there are spots in the song where there should not be any arrows, and the song you copied has arrows there, it makes the song retarded.

The point is, find the gap, bpm and make the steps yourself. Thats the fun part of it anyway!

Making steps to songs for me is really hard. I'm usually forced to make steps to songs where I know the bpm because I have yet to find a BPM finder for mac.
