Hi guys. I was searching through ebay and came across this...http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=36278&item=7115464173&rd=1. Do you believe that? I can't find any information on this thing, has anybody seen one of these before?

Thats pretty strange... I've never really seen something like that before.
Didn't even know there were 10,000 and over. Wouldn't buy it though, looks rather suspicious. Oh, and there is a Dance pad. Just scroll down...

Yeah, I saw that earlier today too (while browsing arcade machines). It's entirely possible considering that the innards of the machine is a PC in nature.

This is kinda similar to what the company Ultracade has done, only not with such a large collection of games. You get a bunch of emulators and ROMs, throw them onto a computer and work some kind of user interface into it. Never seen an option to add DDR in any way to one of these things before, though.

Can't tell from the auction how legal this is. It might just be a bunch of ROMs and emulators downloaded off the internet, which might be a problem if you're an arcade operator. Not sure, though.

I don't think selling Stepmania is very legal.

If all the songs are legally purchased and/or liscensed by their creators, then it is completely legal to use Stepmania for a profit. You're not buying the program per se, as you are buying the liscenses to the music.

Well, this is the reply to my questions.

Hi,

Thanks for your email and for your interest in The
Time Machine. I will email you the gamelists I have
available in text form. Unfortunately, I do not have a
complete list of all the games on the unit. We have
added a few thousand recently, but have not taken the
time to type up a text list of these games. But the
lists do still comprise several thousand of the games
on the machine, I'm sure you will be more than
satisfied.

The Time Machine comes with nearly every coin-op
arcade game ever manufactured. From 1970's Black &
Whites, all your favorite 80's classics(Pac-Man,
Galaga, Asteroids,...), modern day gun games(Area 51,
Lethal Enforcers,...), fighting games(Mortal Kombat,
Tekken,...), even some of the latest driving games and
Golden Tee Golf!

The Time Machine also has all the popular laserdisc
games from the 80's such as Dragon's Lair and Space
Ace. And it also plays home console games. It
currently includes nearly all the games ever
manufactured for the Atari 2600, Atari 7800,
Colecovision, Nintendo(NES), Super Nintendo, Sega
Genesis, Nintendo 64, SegaCD, Sega 32X, with more to
come soon. The machine is easily upgraded with new
games and systems. In the future we will be adding
all the games for Playstation and Xbox and more
coin-op games.

As an optional upgrade, we offer the Stepmania Dance
Pads. This is the same technology used for the popular
dancing games you've seen in the arcades. The Time
Machine has seamlessly integrated this technology to
allow you to play Dance Dance Revolution, Pump It Up,
and other dancing games. We use the same type of
commercial grade, all steel dancepads used on the
original arcade machines. But with the original
machines, you'd spend over $10,000 for one unit with
about 50 songs. The Time Machine includes every song
from every mix, over 1200 songs. Cost to add the one
player system is $500. Or, upgrade to the two player
system for $950. We also offer an optional integrated
flight stick. Has one trigger and two additional
buttons on the top. This gives you the original arcade
controls used for Tron, Gorf, Afterburner, and other
flight simulator games. Cost for this is $275.

You can pause any game at any time, and you can even
create a custom "favorites" list of your top games.
You can also program each game to use the controls of
your choice. If you are seriously considering a
purchase, you are going to think of more questions. So
our best course of action would be to talk on the
phone. We can discuss the games, and all details you
need clarified in order to make an educated decision.
You are welcome to call me any day of the week from
10am-10pm, or get me your number and I will call you.

Regards,
Andrew Culpovich

But still, 1200 songs and two metal pads for $950... not a bad deal. The only snag is when the FBI comes to seize it.
