Hey, I'm FierceStrife. I'm kinda new at forum stuff, but you got to start somewhere. Anyway I'm a college freshman in Georgia and have been playing for almost 3 years. That may seem like a prety good while, but I progressed slowly and am not really good. I can pass a few 10 footers, just with not too much accuracy. But yea, I'm just introducing myself. If anyone has any tips to give me about geting better, I'd appreciate it! E4.gif

greetings. I'm me. I'm a college freshman, and I've been DDRing for about 2 and a half years. Only this year have I started Heavys, so I'm a consistent 8 footer passer. College has kept me from doing it as much as I'd like, but I keep my skills up with Stepmania.

Just noticed this thread so I think I'll introduce myself

My name is Jack. I now live in Land O' Lakes, FL (right outside from tampa) and recently moved from North Jersey. I first saw DDR on a cruise arcade about 3 years ago. I forgot about it til my one friend brought it over one time when we were hanging out. From there i fell in love with it. I bought my copy of Max2 and some cheap pads and i play almost every day. I consider myself a standard/heavy player after about 2 months of straight play. I want to thank the community at DDR Freak for having and maintaing this website cuz its a real help and makes the game more fun E4.gif ...Also if anyone lives in my area that plays im looking for a good arcade and people to DDR with.

Hi All, I'm Pancho just started playing DDR (The XBOX) version, got into it because of two reasons:

1) I was looking for a good activity to do with my two kids
2) Wanted to get a workout out of it

My kids like the game and I do not mind it, just bought the game and a soft pad a week a go, I can't say I'm hooked on it yet but the two times we have played it we have enjoy it so more likelly we will continue.

Thanks

PANCHO

Hey. I like DDR. I've been accused of being too old for DDR and for "wasting" too much money on it. So I'm glad to be here where other people won't think I'm a complete degenerate. And my 2nd favorite arcade game ever is Operation Wolf... obviously.

Hey! I'm disco_bombing, or Ethan if you prefer. I've been playing ddr for only four months now, but I can clear most 9-footers and bag on heavy! I'm sure more people have done way better than that, so I'm here to learn some tips. E1.gif

I'm brand-new to this (only seen people doing this at the mall, had to do a lot of searching to even find out that it was called DDR!)

I have no equipment, no xBox, I know nothing about costs...

Is there an FAQ for people like me?

My questions are things like, do you have to get an xBox to use DDR, can xBox be hooked up to a TV made in the '80's, what are the best pads, does only xBox make the music...?

Thankya...Eric

Best bet: Go with a PS2. You could play it on Xbox, but there's only 2 mixes for it, while you could play 6 on a PS2. You could probably hook up any system to a TV like that. My TV's older than I am by several years, and my N64 connects easily to it.

Pads: Depends on your budget. I recommend Madcatz soft pads for you. Reliable and cheap for beginners and newbies.

FAQ's: Yeah, there's several of them. On the home page, there's a link on the left to a page of FAQs for all sorts of things. I'd also read the DDR Dictionary, and you could even search for machines. All these links are on the left, so it's all there for you easily accessible!

And actually, X-box doesn't make any of the music. It's all explained in the FAQs.
There you go, Eric. Happy DDR trails!
