I don't have any experience with PIU, but having a Flux makes me automatically curious.

So, I downloaded the tracks they have posted at the Exceed site ... and ... well ... they just sound awful. I think I recognize a few samples from NewBeat Trancemission (novelty mixing software from the mid-90's).

With DDR stuff, I typically throw the tracks on CD so I can listen to them in the car. I can't imagine listening to these PIU tracks more than once.

Am I being overly critical of the music here or is it really just that bad?

most of it really sucks sinistar. the only songs i like are maybe some banya songs but those get old after awhile too. i played PIU Ex for awhile at disney quest but after not being able to take the crappy songs anymore, i had to quit. PA is so easy to do on PIU, one of my first time playing i got 3 greats on a song. much easier then DDR.

PIU is pretty fun. I haven't had the chance to play it much. Like most Korean software it is lacking the professionalism found in US, European, and Japanese games, and that might turns some people off.

That's why you don't do PA on PIU. Play some Crazy songs, and your goal will more be to pass the damn thing.

Besides, since when did this turn into a "PIU sucks" topic? Go somewhere else please.

Honestly, I love pump it up, but I actually HATE most of the K-Pop songs, Banya songs are the way to go! <3 Vook, Winter, Dr M, Final Audition 3 U.F.<3

I do gotta agree with Syxx...PIU's look is to DDR's like King of Fighters is to Street Fighter...just looks gritty. I don't see the gripes with the music, though...what's so bad about it? Too much hip-hop? It's a dancing game, that's what people dance to...makes sense to me. happy.gif

It was from an administrator at the Piugame Korea message board. But that was like 3 weeks ago, and I sure as hell am not digging through there to find it again...

The genres don't bug me. It's just that of the 15 or so tracks I listened to, only a few of them sounded really polished. I was just looking for feedback regarding the music since the music is such an important component. If I don't enjoy that, then the game probably isn't worth importing.

But before writing it off, I just wanted to get a feeling for whether or not I was being overcritical or if PIU music in general is just not as well done as KO's.

Looks like opinion will be split, so it's probably nothing that can't be summed up by saying, "Yes, it sucks. No, it doesn't." and being done with it. E1.gif

Check the songlist on Play Asia. #5 on the list.

Oh yeah... Funky Tonight... I played the crap out of it on PREX and forgot it exists! Haven't been playing any versions with that song on it recently... guess thats why I totally forgot about it.

And what is with people doggy about PIUs music? I prefer it over DDRs myself... While I do like a lot of DDR music... what really gets on my nerves are those songs that clock in at about 1min 10seconds..

many a pump/ddr debate ive been in... so let me throw in a few cents about this topic...

- in the past 2 years there have been 3 new pump mixes (prem 2, prex3, exceed) to ddr's 1 (extreme)

- owners of the pc version of pump will already have the pad... buying the bundle will give u a nice setup for doubles/nightmare

- the ps2 version of exceed seems to be 100% to the arcade version as it has every song in it...

and finally for my opinion on which is better... u cant say... many play dancing games for the music, the steps, or for the fun of it all... lets just face it... both games have the same community... and there are a slew of people who do play both...

i will say this...

- ddr does have more technical stepping songs such as max 300 and bag, as while piu has "turn your body to mush" songs such as slam and get this party started

- pump kinda originated the idea of having to hit more than 2 panels at once

- freestyling on ddr can consist of fiddling with song steps (such as little), and pump steps themselves are built with freestyling in mind (songs like funky tonight, we are, and everyone's fave... caution (dont bother me))

so... hmmm... so now i'll be hearing caution everywhere else i go? bleh...
but good for andimiro to jump on the home system band wagon

oh... and best music? iidx baby... lol

Will the pad that's bundled with it be any good? How's the PC pad?

the pads are like those RO ignition version ones.. where the foam wasnt so thick... pretty good... but the non slip bottom doesnt hold too well on floors... which can be crucial if u ever did wanna pass slam on crazy

Hitting more than two panels at once *actually* was in DDR first.

See: DDR Solo Bass Mix (1999), Hysteria Maniac, and Paranoia Evolution Maniac.

I *think* freezes started in PIU first though.

Anyway, I don't like saying one is better than the other. I play DDR and PIU for their own reasons. If you compare them, as forementioned, it's like comparing SF to KoF. They're different games, they don't seek to emulate each other, they're just two different games of the same genre. That, in no way means it's the same game.

Where can I go to get information to mod my PS2? And about the pad, would I need to buy a USB / PS2 converter?
