|
|
I have written a simple guide on how to do just about anything in DDR. I'd highly recommend reading it before posting one of the same questions that's asked over and over again here.
I wrote it here, but I'm reprinting it for your reading pleasure and education.
Quote: |
Q: How do I pass [insert song here]?
A: You keep practicing until you get it. Step to the music. If it's too hard, try easier songs. Practice with another player if autofail is enabled. Keep trying, you'll get it.
Q: How do I get better?
A: Nobody passed Max 300 the first time they played DDR. Everybody was a n00b once. Learn the songs, develop a technique, take pointers from others. Most of all, practice. You'll get better. Everybody advances at their own pace.
Q: How do I do gallops?
A: You can gallop your feet, right? Well, you.. gallop your feet to the arrows. If you're confused, just keep trying until you get it.
Q: How do I do 1/8 steps?
A: Keep practicing. Follow the music. You'll figure it out.
Q: How do I pass So Deep?
A: Play again and again until you finally pass it?
Q: How do I get more endurance?
A: Keep playing. Play as much as possible. Youll get more endurance.
Q: HEY! I PASSED [insert song here]!!
A: Congratulations. So has everybody else.
Q: When will I get better??!?
A: Keep playing, you'll get better.
Q: I can do [insert song/skill level here] and Ive been playing for [insert time here]? Is this normal?
A: Yes.
Q: Is bar raping ok? Are speed mods ok?
A: Who cares. People will think you look stupid playing regardless of what you do. You can't keep everybody happy. Just play and have fun. Don't worry about what other people think.
Q: Has anybody passed [insert song here]??
A: Yes.
Q: How do I memorize songs??
A: Keep playing until you get it. More than anything, if you have to ask, youre either trying too hard or not playing enough.
Q: When can I do [insert skill level here]?
A: When you can do it.. keep practicing.
Q: Whats the best [insert something here] for playing DDR?
A: Whatever makes you happy. Whatever works for you. Whatever shoes, clothes, anti-persperant, whatever makes you happy. One size does not fit all.
Q: I invented this great freestyle move!
A: No you haven't. Somebody else has done it. Probably better than you, too.
Q: Why do people [insert something here]?
A: See: 'Is bar raping ok? Are speed mods ok?'
Q: When am I good?
A: Who cares? There's probably somebody better than you anyway. It is all relative. 'Good' somewhere is probably 'bad' somewhere else. Again, see 'Is bar raping ok? Are speed mods ok?'
Q: I need help with [insert song here]?
A: For frick's sake, have you been reading this at all?

I agree with everything else, except the lock-down on "I need help with [insert song here]". That's not cool. People can actually benefit with advice on particular parts of particular songs. That's part of what these forums are for, right? To serve some purpose other than flaming, ie. helping each other.
Case in point:
I once posted long ago about how to get through the hard part of DXY and someone pointed out that I should be leading out with my left foot after the jumps instead of my right and it's way easier, and they were right.
I say let these posts go through. Heck, theyre better than the most of the lame ideas some people decide to start a thread about. |

Isn't that assuming too much?
Also, this thread appears to apply more to singles mode than Doubles. |

Explain how any of the rules don't apply to doubles? |

Some songs on Doubles don't exactly take on the step characteristics of their Singles counterparts. So Deep HVY Singles is a continuous back-to-back gallop stream with jackhammers while So Deep HVY Doubles is spinny and stretchy to do. |

I once tried to sell my soul to the devil to be amazing at this game. That seems to work as well.
What are Jackhammers? |

The fact remains that it's not worded in anyway towards single OR double, but as a generalization. |

I think Rampage did a great job that explains everything you need to do to get better at DDR except you should have added help from other players because that is how i got my first heavy AA,so you should throw that in somewhere.Just my 2cents but great job Rampage everyone should read this............. |

Finally, and official post for this crap! Besides, I was tired of people posting things like: "Are speed mods cheating" and "Hey! I passed MaxX Unlimited!." _________________

Yes, but in case you folks didn't realize this before, my piece was written to be tongue-in-cheek. But, that aside, I do think everybody can learn from it. |

Why don't we lock the entire forum? If not for pointless arguments, what would there be to discuss? It's a video game, for crying out loud. |
