We rely on you, the user, to help us keep the site as updated as possible, especially on the Machine Locations. Please take a brief moment and take a look at your local area's listings to see if they are up-to-date.

We genuinely appreciate your help!

Boy oh boy, I would love you, but the thing is for the year and a half I have been on this site every time I try to make a change, I get a SQL error.

Are you trying to just change the location or create a new one?

Can you give me more information?

I'd love to help get it fixed, but I need more feedback.

I don't know. I can't reproduce the error unless I put false information in... because all the changes to the locations near me have been changed. I am able to vote for modifications though.

And I also suggest that everyone go through and check their local machines for any errors. It's not hard and it doesn't take a lot of time.

Yes i totally agree. It doesn't take long and it makes a difference. I personally think that most people that don't help are just lazy bums that need to get of their asses and help out devil.gif

Well, the local University of Maryland machine is listed twice. I don't particularly want to mark one of the entrys as invalid (gotta pick, and then people have to agree with me). If one of the mods could fix the University of Maryland - College Park machine in the Stamp Student Union, it'd be apreciated.

I'm not sure if the "Other Benami" search thing works right or not either, maybe it's nothing...

Can you add a section for comments under for the machines locations?

Like in the example of my local arcade, Happy Hampton, the owners are real assholes and have done the following repeatedly:

-Reset the machines in order to get rid of songs.

-Placed one machine under a location where water dripped. A puddle formed covering the entire right pad the refused to move this when asked (they just mopped it up not solving the problem. Leak was from underneath a pipe, they eventually moved it 1-2 weeks after due to the fact that noone was playing it.

-Kick out or yell at players for playing Oni courses (because: if holds up the lines, yet they had turned their left machine off, claiming it was broken, then turned it on the same day so one of the managers kids could play it. frust.gif )

-Have other employees shadow DDR players around the arcade, just in case they do something disruptive

-Never upkeep their machines and lecture you when you tell them about an arrow that needs cleaning, or a screw that needs adjusting

-Had the machines priced at 50c , but had a poster saying it was $1.00. My friend Max noticed this and was playing, one of the managers saw him only put in two quarters and banned him permanently for "Cheating money out of the machine by lowering the price by hacking it somehow" frust.gif frust.gif frust.gif frust.gif frust.gif

-Ask for the codes to unlock songs, then kick you out when you bring them in and accuse you of attempting to hack the machine.

-Kick you out before you even get in for rollerblading to the arcade and sitting outside of it to take your rollerblades off before entering.

-during the summer they kicked out one ddr player every other day for absolute BS reasons. Example: One kid was told the arcade was closing, he went up the set of stairs (ddr is at the bottom) toward the exit, then paused and turned around in order to tell his friend (who was currently playing ddr) something. Immediatly after taking two steps down the stairs (literally I was there) a manager (the one who is a relative of the owner) got about one inch in front of his face and started screaming at him for roughly six minutes. Before the poor guy got a chance to talk, he was kicked out and banned for 2 weeks.

All of this is true and can be backed up by every regular player who use to go there. (few, if any go anymore. I sometimes go in between work on sat. cuz it's 15 mins. from my work, but due to dif. lvl I only play oni while there. )

Now If an arcade is like that one, I would very much appreciate knowing that in advance. I'd rather go to a run down place with friendly managers who are actually willing to listen to you and will actually fix things, than a place where the managers kick you out for the most innocent of things.

Therefore I would like a comment, although brief, section to be added, perhaps regarding the attitudes of the workers/owner.

Well that's my $0.02

We've repeatedly declined to do so because it gets abused more often than not. I recently had to go through the Latin America listings and edit a whole bunch of them because the submitter included a bunch of advertisements for her website in them.

The locations rating is what that's for. It's obvious this location deserves a fairly low rating.

Just out of curiosity... do you want stuff like Extreme Plus machines and Megamixes listed too? Or are we too cool for those (since we really are, but a machine's a machine)?

Fixed. One has been deleted.

I would imagine that if it's a bootleg version of a machine, it should be entered as that type of machine with the additional information mentioning that it's a bootleg.

well why not have a comment system with mods watching it? you just a few designated mods who read the comments and approve them for posting. if the comments arnt good, you just simply dont allow them up.

oh and thanks for fixing the Galatica II posting for me

I understand the problems in adding ITG or any of the other games similar to DDR, but I think it would be nice. There's a location near me that has ITG installed on one of the DDR machines. Because of this, I'm not really sure what to do with the machine that still says DDR.

We already have a Site Feedback thread talking about the discussion of whether or not to add In The Groove to our machine listings. Please continue that particular topic there.

What exactly is the threshold for a modification being accepted or rejected? This duplicate listing has been floating in there for at least a couple months now. The modification system isn't terribly useful if 21 responses still isn't enough to verify something. I've seen a few arcades in the area change configurations several times while an older modification is still pending (and you've likely heard me doggy about it on IRC).

thats a very good point there, I can't say we have ever had that problem on the UK list but it doesn't make sense for when this sort of thing does happen

Well, it's floating like that because a bunch of people aren't looking very intelligently at it. They see it and say "Yeah, that machine exists!" even though it already exists.

I had to semi-personally verify a listing for Pizza Planet in Disney World last summer because the voting on the machine had reached the threshold of something like 100 votes.

We can't visit every location personally to verify their existence (contrary to one particular individual's belief... blink.gif), so we depend on reliable information from you guys. Unfortunately, some people are more reliable than others... disturb.gif

Which is why we need people like you to point out errors like this to us so that we can fix it (which I'm doing as we speak). If you have a machine nearby that has a hotly contested modification, see if you can cough up an excuse to go out that way so you can check for us and let us know directly. If you're one of the people that we consider "trustworthy", we'll probably take your word for it. Better yet, bring a digicam and take pictures to prove it (you'll need a few - take some every few steps into the arcade so that we can clearly see where the machine is and what it is).
