I remember watching a guy play doubles a long time ago. He did it all so perfect, and he made it look so fun. After that I knew I wanted to play the game.

A friend introduced me to it. After I got it at my home, I started going to the arcades.

Some good looking girls at my school were going to play. I, like any good stalker, followed them.
After several games, the girls left; I was enjoying myself enough to stay.
3 hours later I was minus $30, but I was on top of the world.

Well a while ago I was playing Yu-Gi-Oh and I met a couple people who said they played DDR. At first I thought they were gay, but they got me to play so I did. This was about a year ago and I am still playing, with the same people, too.

I started because of a freestyler.

I was on Spring Break, and we were down in Florida. I saw someone playing it in the arcade down there, and he wasn't even looking at the screen. Eventually, after all the other fancy and impressive things he did, he played MaxX Unlimited on heavy. I watched from behind him, and I knew I wanted to beat that song.

A) It was the most original game I had seen in an arcade
B) It looked fun, and challenging

That's pretty much it. The whole crowd clapping and watching you thing probably helped too.

me and my friend saw supply fs after the game of love. which many of you know as mr.cwalk on kazaa. we thought it was the most awesome thing we had ever seen. he wanted to get into it but i was all like "i would suck at that game, its only for asians". but he convinced me and now im all like "what a jackass i was". and i no longer view ddr that way.

i really hope no one kills me for this. i really had no inspiration, only desire to play DDR. on a band trip, one of the drummers in my section was playing pretty well and the girl i liked was all dancing along with him (they both were playing what i thought was amazing at the time). i figured mabye if i tried it, she might like me more, so i went and tried it only to fail. i wa laughed at by the guy so i kept trying. about a billion tokens later, i could play 4 footers and no one cared..... she said i got gross and sweaty...

I was bored of always playing the same fighting games over and over again and there was this new machine I had watched in the news about 4 or maybe 5 months before... so I gave it a shot, failed miserably and then became obssesed (is that even a word or am I coming up with new p-chanesque word again?) with the game

Inspiration? There really wasn't any for me. When I first heard about DDR, I didn't even want to try it, honestly. =P I saw a screenshot of it in EGM, and I was still really into the Bust-A-Move/Groove games at the time. In those games, the highest combo you could get up to was 8 (or FREEZE!!!) and then it started over. In the screenshot I saw, one player had a 39 combo going and I thought, "WTF? You can't do that! Lame!!"

Then I saw the game at an arcade. Being an extreme Japanophile at the time, my opinion instantly changed, and I said, "I can't leave without playing this game!" And that was it. laugh.gif
