There is a site called bemanistyle with this type of information. Konami.co.jp/am also has information (Well it will).
It is playable in the USA..... _________________

*cough*.
Syxx hit the nail on the head. The legend shall never die of DDR. Its going to be in 'pop culter' history forever. |
Funny. I read that and thought "Soul Blade".
Anyways. Yeah. I'm thinking of breaking from DDR awhile myself. I love it and all, but...
It's just getting too doggone expensive for one. It probably WILL be a year until our next major release and... oops... scratch that "major", I forgot; we don't get those.
For two, I, you, we, whoever; can hope for forever to get a mix that suits them (and doesn't cost an arm and both legs); but let's face it. IT WILL NEVER HAPPEN. There will always be obscene amounts of stuff in there, and TONS of good stuff that won't even be touched.
For three, it's stopped being a good, fun game; and it's turning into nothing but a cash-cow. I mean, look at how many tracks from both releases are WAAAY old, released how many times within a year... AND how much of them we've bought at least 2x now. Not to mention how many systems/accessories/etc. we have to buy just to use them properly. Yeah, it's just the first reason again, but let's face it. In the past tense of 'making a good mix', that much effort is resulting in '7 discs, all sold seperately across multiple systems in multiple regions, each of everything sold seperately', and battered with stages that are finally reaching the 4th Mix-era, and barely scratching the 5th Mix one.
I guess it really comes down to just taking too much time, money, and effort for something I can only truly enjoy ~1/2 of. |

EEK! I kinda just jumped into doubles, and my favorite right now is Tsugaru Heavy Doubles, so I guess I can never be done with DDR! YAY! DDR LIVES! |

ok back on topic....
the way I see it, if konami closes their arcade division, it would probaonly take a couple years for ddr to become dated. Even if japanese machines and IIDX machines trickle into the US, its going to fade soon....
Since ive only been playing a few months, I often forget how old the game really is... I wonder if it will be in trivial pursuit? _________________

I'm exactly the same way. |
Ditto. If Konami of Japan would make another arcade mix. Just ONE! I would really get back into DDR, at least for a little while. I mean, I really don't care if it's just another normal DDR with no new features and just a new songlist, that would quench my appetite for awhile. _________________

Well, as far as Japan goes, there will be no more machines made, and DDR is just about over its peak. The only thing I can foresee is most likely the production of dance games for U.S. consoles, seeing as the demand is relatively high. We are going to see alot more licensed music incorporated into the games, a trend begun earlier in small doses. _________________

our only hope may be if some other company buys konamis franchise on ddr and Bemani...But that would be a while down the road. _________________
