RedOctane Ignition v2.0: Product Link
MSRP: $109.95

Product Description: When you hop on the dual Xbox/PlayStation RedOctane Ignition 2.0 PadTM, you'll immediately notice that the buttons feel different from the rest of the pad - just like the metal arcade dance pad. That's because there's a dense cushion insert that gives you the perfect balance between fast reaction times and comfort. And when you get on the DDR arcade machine, your steps are spaced perfectly right, just like you practiced at home. You'll find this only with the RedOctane Ignition 2.0 PadTM.

The dual Xbox/ PlayStation Ignition 2.0 padTM is the perfect dance pad if you play Dance Dance Revolution on multiple systems. The dual Xbox/PlayStation Ignition 2.0 padTM works perfectly on the PlayStation, PlayStation 2, and Xbox consoles. An added benefit is that this new Ignition pad registers as a dance pad on Xbox Live! This is an important feature for competitive Ultramix players.

Why is the RedOctane Ignition TM 2.0 Pad the best pad on the market?

Faster and more accurate button readings with the all new dense cushion insert
The RedOctane Ignition TM 2.0 Pad features an all new dense foam insert that will keep up with your fastest moves. This dense cushion insert gives you the perfect balance between fast reaction times and comfort, so you can play longer and get higher scores. Longer playing times also means more aerobic exercise.

Improve arcade scores using a pad with arcade sized circuitry
If you're an arcade DDR player, do you get lower scores on soft pads? It's likely because soft pads have smaller circuitry. Almost all soft pad versions are based on Konami's home pad design, which have smaller circuits than the arcade pads and do not cover the semi-circle portion of the button closest to the center of the pad. We learned about this design flaw from high-level DDR experts like Azn Innovation.

The RedOctane Ignition TM 2.0 Pad buttons and sensors are arcade sized, bridging the difference so that you can achieve consistency in your game whether you're playing at the arcade or at home with soft pads. If you're playing for max combos or trying to do perfect attack, you'll need the RedOctane Ignition TM 2.0 Pad.

Always stay in position on the pad with the raised, reinforced buttons
Anyone who has spent much time playing DDR in the arcade knows that to be a great DDR player, you must "feel" the buttons and know your position on the pad at all times. Can you successfully stay on center playing Afronova expert levels when you have to jump and twist 4 or 5 times in a row? That will cost you valuable points. And you can forget about scoring high on doubles maniac songs if you can't feel your way around the pad.

The RedOctane Ignition TM 2.0 Pad has durable inserts underneath each button so that you can feel the difference between the button and the other parts of the pad. With the Ignition TM 2.0 Pad, you'll feel if you're off center so you can make the necessary corrections without taking your eyes off the screen.

We promise you the RedOctane Ignition TM 2.0 Pad is the best pad you'll ever buy or you'll get your money back!

Specifications:
* Compatible with PlayStation, PlayStation 2, and Xbox
* Arcade size sensors
* Raised, reinforced buttons
* Anti slip Grip Tite bottom
* All new dense cushion insert
* Dimensions: 32" x 36" x 1 1/2"

Wow! That picture makes it look like the BNS DX pad!!! My RedOctane doesn't look a thing like that.

FIRST POST!!

Also. Can we add soe truth into the pads? The manufacturers aren't going to tell us why the pad sucks and how fast it dies. I just got mine on Sunday. Its been a good boy so far. Waiting to hear from my Metal pad email i sent to Redoctane!

Ive had my redoctane for over a year now, and it's held up fairly well. The bottom arrow detached from the edge, but it was nothing a strip of black duct tape couldnt fix. laugh.gif It's broken in very nicely, and has great responsiveness.

Has anyone else had any luck with igniton-like pads from ebay, or any other online vendor? Ive found models for as low as $50 for two, but they include soft white foam instead of the hard foam, and have the shinny tops instead of textured. Ive been shopping around, and ddrnation seems to have the best deal, but they too have the shinny tops. Can anyone suggest a redoctane alternate that's worth the money?

They're probably just Ignition rip offs. I think you should take out that foam which most likely is cheap soft foam and maybe put some wood in the pad instead like the RyChan mod.

Wood? Yikes. I was considering buying the dense foam from redoctane or levelsix, since it's about $10 a set. Im worried about the buttons and the textures, though. Ive heard of the ebay ones without the redoctane-style textured top, but instead having a a softpad style top that sticks to your feet. I also red on a faq that other brands such as the levelsix pad have overstuffed buttons that arent as responsive.

You could fix the sticking to the feet problem by wearing socks instead of playing barefoot.

Yeah, I usually do, but my feet still slide around it, the tops are too slippery.

If anyone is looking to buy one of these pads, EBGames have them for sale for $89.99 if you don't want to order online. Don't know how long the sale will go though...

Just picked one up because of the sale and got it for $50 because of my gift vouchers, it's much more awesome than I imagined ^^.

Well, if you do plan on getting a pad from EB, you better do it fast.

It's one of those Columbus Day sales that we've got going on, so that thing ends today. I'd still say wait til you get the cash for a metal pad though.

Why? I've had one of these for a year now, and the left arrow has all but died on me. Not good for PA and such. But it was decent for those first few months that I had it. Good times....

I take pride in you calling it my mod biggrin.gif because I got it from someone else. I've become a lazy butt about finishing my FAQ. If you're interested in it, there's a link in my signature that for now will take you to my Live Journal.

The BNS DX Ignition is basically the same thing as this pad, isn't it?

I'm gonna toss that in here.

The BNS DX Ignition was reccommended to me and I'm thinking about buying it, but can anyone tell me how it performs?

I need something that will hold up on 9's and 10's because my pads are too broken to do so now and I cannot slip around. My old Konami didn't slip but it won't work anymore and I had a Naki that slipped crazy style.

My big question is when it says "non- slip" could I expect the same amount of slippage from the official Konami pad?

Also, how long do they last? I don't have much money but I'm willing to pay for this, seeing as it's pretty much the only form of cardio exercise I do (I also lift weights but that's anaerobic)

Basically, knowing what I have said, would it be good for me to buy this pad?

And if not, what should I buy?

How much are the BNS Ignitions since I know for a fact that the EBs and Gamestops by me are selling the Red Octane Ignitions for $99.99 MSRP.

2 for a little over a hundred but i wouldn't suggest buying them because they went cheap and stopped securing the inserts in like they used to in the old versions of the pad. When i queried about this they avoided my question.They only are held in by glue now.

i'd like to know how the BNS DX ignition soft pad compares to the RO v2.0 ignition soft pad. both seem to have the exact same features except BNS's is 50$ while the RO is 100$.

from what i've heard from DDRwannabbe BNS has stopped making their ignition pads as well as they used to. can anyone verify this with like proof of their BNS ignition pad failing?

I've had my BNS DX Xtreme for 6+ months and I love it. I would recomend it based on my experience so far; great pad, doesn't slip around, feels sturdy, etc.
It has just, within the past coupla days, developed some sort of cord problem tho. I'm gonna try and fix it (got an idea from another post and I'm open to more options), but if that doesn't work I'll need to replace it and that's where I'm stuck.
I read somewhere here that the new ones aren't as good because they just glue them or something. I also read somewhere here that the Red Octane pads aren't very good anymore either. What's left?
I'm not extreme yet, so I don't need anything more than what this one had to offer. I don't want anything less though.
BTW~ modding prolly isn't a good option for me E13.gif I'll stay open minded tho...

DO NOT GET THE BNS DX XTREME PAD!!!

Recent manufacturing changes to this pad has significantly reduced the quality of their pads. A few months ago, BNS changed how the small inserts in their pad are attached to the pad. They are stuck to the pad by a layer of sticky glue, that when played on for a period of time, heat up and lose their adhesion abilities. These inserts will move significantly in a period of only A FEW HOURS of play.

Myself and dozens of others on this board have had this problem. If you check the old soft pad thread, you will read dozens of stories near the end of the thread from people who bought this pad and were unsatisfied due to this problem.

DO NOT GET THIS PAD! YOU WILL ENCOUNTER A PROBLEM!

As I asked earlier, if the pad is lacking in stability, where would I be better off looking?
