Your Rain is pretty much the new Secret Rendezvous, that'd be my top pick. Wonderland (finally!) has beginner steps now, as does Do Me. And don't forget Move Your Feet. biggrin.gif

In less than two weeks, I'm gonna compete in freestyle for the first time in a major tourney in NYC (a.k.a.: The $1,000 National DDR Championship). The thing is, I'm on freestyler's block, and I don't know what song I'm gonna do, let alone have any good dance moves. Can someone please help me with 1) Picking a good song (I'll be using a DDR EX machine) and 2) learning some solid dance moves.

solid dance moves: any party dances from the 80's... hahaha, theyre for comedic value only though.

others: the raver stomp, the nordic track, and the figure 8. they already last almost 2 decades, THEYVE GOTTA BE HOT!!!

seriously though, i know this is the "freestyle help" thread, but when people hand a freestyle or freestyle outline to you on a platter...does it do YOU any good as a freestyler?

get in the lab, and work on it. dancers hit plateaus (blocks) all the time. your motivation, persistance, and creativity will determine whether you can survive this one.

holy shit yes somnambulist is fun. biggrin.gif

ZAKU: The more you freestyle, the easier moves come along to you. You'll want to pick something that's not too dense, something that leaves room for creativity. Check the 130 and under BPM section for something good on the DDR ex songlist...something you're not going to mind listening to a lot.

As for the routine, I'm with USER and trupnoi on this, we can't really aid your imagination here. Don't put too much emphasis on one type of move (I saw a Candy routine that was all sliding and arm circles...ugh), but don't try to think up a move for every two beats either - you won't remember it all unless you're like, marcisdaname. Definitely throw in comedy somewhere to get the audience paying attention. Find what style suits the song, see what looks good in the mirror.

That's about all I can tell you. Two weeks is plenty if you put your mind to it...good luck.

Because the people coming in here ARE asking the questions for the first time. Problem is that they don't browse around. Maybe I should restart the thread with some advice and link back to this old one.

But like hell I am wasting my Saturday on that. =P

Don't be so hard on them, maybe they just want a few moves to start because they have absolutely no clue about freestyling. you really can't say that everyone uses only unique moves. almost everyone copies each other.

That's why CaptainCanada already posted his opinions about freestyling (along with many other people in this thread). A random page here wouldn't be a bad idea to take a look at.

Depends on who "they" are. Most of the time, they might be people who can't digitize or host videos. Therefore no one sees anything.

However, the National tournament in NYC is this weekend. So we can expect some videos of that soon.

Does anyone have the stepchart for Legend Of Max Basic Doubles? This site only has the Heavy version.

I just want to look at the chart to see if it looks decent enough to Freestyle. If it can beat out Paranoia Survivor, I'm in!

any help would be greatly appreciated
