Using solo mod to change arrow color -- looked down upon?

I quite often use to solo mod -- not as in 6 arrows, the one that changes arrow color (yellow for 1/4 beat, blue for 1/8 beat, purple for anything else). How do most people look at that? I mean, whoopdidoo, it changes arrow colors. Sure, it's so that I can recognize the arrow beats a little more clearly, but I also like the more solid colors better than the bland lighter mixed colors. Do tournaments allow it; and does it make you look "less skilled" or anything?

I use solo on every song I play. And unless I'm in a tournament I will always use solo. I think it's great. Some people find it easier to read the arrows without a solo mod but I guess it's all in preference/perspective.

I don't even use it. I actually do worse when I play with Solo.

I don't use solo because I have no problem without it, but I don't see why it would be looked down upon since it IS an option in the game.

Well, speed mods are an option and some people look down on those...the bar is an option and it's looked down upon by some...it just comes down to personal taste.

Either way, I think it's annoying if you don't ask first. I used to use Solo a lot more than I do now, so I'm used to it...however, some people aren't, and it's always nice to ask.

I use solo, but mostly for songs with gallops because I can't stand them.

I do look down on most mods though, seeing me use solo is rare.

I use solo on just a few songs. And, once and for all: ALL MODS EXCEPT ONES THAT MAKE IT HARDER TO COMPLETE SONGS (like reverse, stealth, etc.) ARE LOOKED DOWN UPON. That felt good.

I don't really see a use for it, so i don't use it. I mean i can see a fairly significant color change on the beats (like on the "and" of a beat, or on the beat) on regular mode already.

Meh, i just don't like it, that's all...

No, I don't like Solo at all. I don't really like anything that makes the song easier (except for speed mods). I honestly don't look at the color of the arrows so even playing on flat doesn't bother me.

Im color defficient, So I need the solo arrows. The original Pre-5th mix arrows where fine for me, but I can't tell the difference with the vivid arrows on 5th-8th. Besides, When I play on a SOLO machine, Its solo arrows

dood, solo is the cools. i put it on when i remember to. its not that it helps me do better or anything, it just makes it look trippier. and isnt trippier ALWAYS better?
whenever some friends and i are playing the random nonstop (GREAT nonstop course, by the way) and we get solo, we're all 'YES!@ SOLO MODE! ROXXORZ N00B BLAH BLAH MORE NERD TALK L33T STUFF'

one thing about Solo is that some people find it easier, and some people don't. One thing I think about Solo is that it should be used to learn certain songs, but you shouldn't depend on it (assuming you're not just playing for fun and nothing else...then by all means, play however you like!)...but if you're someone who would like to pass an Oni course, you can use mods, and you'll be screwed if you're too used to looking at Solo modded arrows....

also, some tournaments don't let you use Solo on Extreme machine since BOTH players have to use it even if only ONE person it on...sometimes, you need consent from the other person to use Solo...

I LOVE mods!!! I don't use solo too much though. I only use it on certian songs. Because some one told me that speed mods were okay, I started using them a lot. I need solo on Max 300 and MaxX, and PSMO, all thoughs survivor ones, because I put them on x1.5. I REALLY suck at reading arrows, so I need speed mods for almost everything.

And the looked down upon thing all depends on who you talk to. Like for me, I don't care what the person has to do to pass a song, just as long as they pass it, unless you bar rape end of the century basic. That just bugs me.

Unfortunately, in Extreme, if the person you're playing uses solo, then you're *stuck* with it. I don't understand why it is. That's one of the reasons I don't like playing in Cleveland a lot... people there are complete solo whores.

I don't think it makes you a better or worse player for using solo. I just never understood why so many people use it. I don't think that it makes most songs much easier or harder to read in general (unless you have some sort of color blindness, the vivid arrows are pretty distinct), just different. I honestly think the vivid arrows look *better* than the solo arrows. But maybe I'm crazy.

i have never used mods and i have gotten to the point where i can read most heavy songs perfectly fine, just cant move perfectly to them

Solo and 1.5x are my two main mods I use all the time. It's what I've gotten used to playing with.
