before i post let me say that i'm the first person to make a comment of this topic.................. I think it is possible to get faster by playing DDR. However, being able to run fast comes from years of practice. Doing heavy 10 footers wont make you much faster. thats my opinion. laugh.gif

DDR isn't going to do much for your running. It'll help your calves out but other than that, it will neglect your hamstrings and quads which are vital to running.

The best thing to do is find a good training program and mix in some races to keep you going and you'll gain faster than you'd think. I used to do long distance running and in just 3 months time of dedication and training i went from barely being able to run a mile, and in 8:45 at that. To being able to run a mile in <5:45 and easily running 10-15 miles at a fairly good clip.

Just make sure the program you choose mixes in some speed work with some intervals and distance work, along with a couple days of rest a week. Also, as i mentioned earlier, it is nice to enter a local 5k or something of that nature about once a month, to give you something to shoot for.

I wouldn't say it'd make you faster, but I'm very much sure anyone would agree to saying it would increase stamina.

in my experience DDR doesnt help much with running a long distance because most of the time you dont play for 7 mins straight consistantly. only Legend Road would do that and you still get some little breaks. DDR helps for shortrange stamina (400 meter/800 meter)

It may help build endurance, but I doubt it actually increase running speed. I'd try actual running.

It's only increased my stamina when I run, but not much of anything else.

Depends if you play high speed mods or not.

I have insanely fast reflexes, but I don't credit it all to DDR, many years of baseball did it to me too.

I can run a 6:30 mile, down from the 11 minute I used to to. It doesn't help speed *that* much, but enough to see an improvement.

It will help your running speed more than, you know, doing nothing. Running would help you more.

I believe DDR doesn't actually makes you faster. It just increases your stamina so you can last longer and stay at a steady pace.

Not only will playing DDR not increase your running speed, it won't do that much to increase your stamina either. It will increase your cardivascular stamina, or your general stamina, if you will. But any activity you do requires different muscle stamina, and I can assure that you don't use your musceles in the same way playing DDR as you do running. Your technique when you run will be a large factor in both speed and stamina, and that's something that playing DDR will not improve at all.

The term..

"DDR is better than nothing"

Applies here... It really doesn't help running, but for some reason, I'm a much better defensive basketball player with my twitching ability... the ball is like a BIG orange arrow...
