Her money, her dancing style. If you don't like seeing her play that way, do something else. It's not like her raping the bar has any negative affects on your ddr kharma. _________________

it just looks incredibly stupid the way people do that sometimes, to a point where one might feel the urge to step in to help them not bar. my friend works in an arcade with an extreme, and thank god, he put up a bigass sign saying "NO USING THE BAR UNLESS THE SONG IS ON HEAVY AND A 9-FOOTER AND ABOVE" |

Motion thirded!!
I, for one, have only used the bar ONCE at the arcade. The kid was like "I don't care what you do, just let me pick the last song" so I'm like sure w/e. We do our songs, and for the last song he picks Paranoia Survivor Max. I'm like ooooo shit. I can't play on Standard, just can't do it, so I go to the heavy. He of course picks Oni. I did like the first measure, then put my hands on the bar. I did okay, about a B i think.
Oh btw, he AA'd the oni.
As for what the topic is ACTUALLY about, I haven't seen too many people use the bar, and the few I have seen were on songs like Max 300. _________________

Only been playing in arcades for a few weeks now, but haven't seen too many people bar raping. Most people don't use it much at all. I learned to play at home on my X-box, so using the bar at all seems really weird to me. Granted, I'm only a Standard player who's pretty comfortable on most 5's & 6's and a few 7's. Maybe if I ever try to get to the next level, my bar use will have to increase somewhat. For now though, it just seems real akward to even reach for it. |

I think you should only use the bar for 10 foots (if you need it that is). |

At Disney World, I saw someone playing Jam Jam Reggae on Beginner on the DDR USA machine and they held the bar the hold time. I don't think using the bar is bad if you only use it for certain parts of the song, or even if you use it a lot during a difficult song but I couldn't figure out why someone was holding the bar the whole time on a 1 footer than is under 100 BPM. |

Okay, but why should it be deemed as bad? Can't that person play as he/she wish? As far as I know, it will not affect your performance on the machine. And if he/she gets stuck with that "bad habit", then it's his/her problem.
While I do agree that, personally, the bar did more bad than good for me (for the few times that I've attempted to use it), I think that stating whether people "should" use the bar or not is not something anyone here is in any position to do.
But hey, that's just my opinion... you do whatcha want with it! _________________

This is turning into another bar raping discussion.....
As to answer the original question i indeed have seen people use the bar on light. Normally the reason is because they are just leaving their "noob" status and going onto light, but they've seen us heavy/10 PAers use the bar, so they decide "Hey if the guy passing a ten footer uses it, then so should i." Sometimes u gotta tell them that its not really necessary on light unless they feel more comfortable with it. If thats the case then let them be. |

What you do at night makes Jesus cry too. He told me so.
Jesus wrote: | People who complain in DDR forums and use their computers for more than email make me cry | See?
But seriously, shouting at people who post in these forums isn't any better than the people who start new threads every 4 days. Most don't know better.
Also, There should be a bar rape sticky. And since there isn't one, just put this bar raping junk in "Arcade Experiances."
To answer the question at hand, not everyone plays DDR the same. If you're against bar raping, (like I am on less than a 8-9 foot) just tell the bar rapers that they would be better off trying to learn to balance on their own or they will get screwed later and made fun of. And if they don't stop doing it, you can be the first one to start making fun of them. It's their choice, but on anything less than an 8 footer they should be encouraged to do without it. If they dont listen, sucks to be them.
This thread isn't going to go anywhere in a positive direction... Fill in the rest. And someone make a bar raping sticky so we don't get "Bar raping" on half the topics on the arcade forum loadup. |
