You've probably answered this question 1 millions times by now. BUT I was wondering why I can't save Extreme Oni modes? (If they have all difficulty settings and Oni). For example if I want I can AA Still in my Heart (Momo Mix) and it'll save, but if I AA Sync Heavy and A Sync Oni the Oni doesn't save.
IF you answered this already just feel free to laugh at me and point me to the page number you answered it on. _________________

I don't think I answered it in this thread directly, but...
Essentially, the Link Data format only provides space for three records per game mode (eg - Single, Double). Light, Standard, Heavy. In the case of an Oni-only song, the song records are saved as Heavy scores. Beginner records are not stored.
St00pidbaka's comment about 5th Mix is irrelevant, especially since 5th Mix uses a totally different format for the Link Data that's not compatible with the New Version Link Data format.
They just plain didn't count on newer difficulty levels, I suppose. _________________

My installation manual for Club Mix mentions nothing about the MC hardware and doesn't show the connections in the schematics.
3rd Korean2 - I *think* so. But only for edits - I don't think the Link Data feature works in Korean2. I could be wrong on that though. I could be wrong on everything here to be perfectly honest. _________________

I'm a recent buyer of the Dex Drive (serial version, which I'm glad to say works with PSXGameEdit), and I've been reading this thread a few times to be sure that I didn't goof things up.
Question (Page 3): It was said that edits are supposed to have the header file of the machine you want to play on, not the mix it originated from. I never did that step, and most of my edits worked anyway. Is this really required, and what is the purpose of such a thing?
Question (FAQ): Everyone says different things about this, even different FAQs. Is Link Data REALLY required for edit steps to work?
Question (Forgot Page): I brought 4 PS1/PSX cards with me (I made sure to specify PS1 cards when I went into the stores), but only two of them would load (Inserted/Ready). The ones that didn't load...one was a transparent blue card and has "Sony" on the back, and the other had Street Fighter labels and had "Memory Card" on the back end instead of "Sony". Is it possible that those cards are not official cards? _________________

Otherwise, making edits for most songs would be nigh impossible. AM-3P on any mix other than 2nd, for example. Wolfman (NCSU U1 Remix) wrote: | Question (FAQ): Everyone says different things about this, even different FAQs. Is Link Data REALLY required for edit steps to work? | Absolutely not. I say so in my FAQ. My proof is that, in doing experiments with Ho-man on Edit Data, we loaded his machine to the brim with edits, 15 at a time. Anything else is 3rd party. Any "custom" memory cards like the Street Fighter cards you mention are probably made by Hori. Hori is generally a good manufacturer, but it seems that in this case, it may not have been so. _________________

I have a question regarding the actuall slots. I was trying to fix our local machines CD Drive (Well, I guess CD-R drives and DVD Drives dont work ) and I looked up at the memory card slots, and I noticed that there where 7 or so dip switches. What do they do on the slots? I know that the 4th one does something that is on the actuall machine. _________________

Its a 2nd link! i have a friend nearby who would like to save to a memory card.
Last time i was here there was no data for this, so:
If we dont have link data for that, how can we create it and give it to everyone else, hes building a playsaver as we speak. and i have built one too, ill post pics or something later.
If there is link data for 2nd, where can we get it? _________________

I have been making steps for a while on ddreditmax and dexdriving them onto mem cards, but I came upon a curious little problem with the program. It falters when making steps for songs that only have the oni difficulty on them (ie. Matsuri Japan nonstop megamix) It adds 3 weird steps in the beginning measure and then jumbles the rest of the steps. I made a really cool edit and If anybody knows how to correct this problem, please reply _________________

Here's how it works - You have to have a 1st Mix System File on your memory card. When you take that MC to the arcade, the 2nd Link will make some changes to it to unlock the Link options in 1st Mix. That's all there is to it.
Whenever you get your MC hardware set up, let me know, and I'll send you a 1st Mix system file. _________________

The program itself that you use in on your PC, but it works with the hardware you have outside, such as a DexDrive. You download the files needed for link data, or download/make (using software like DDREditMax) any edits you want. Then you transfer then to you card via the software, being Dexplorer or whatever other program you use that works with you DexDrive. After you get the hardware you need (again, the DexDrive), which usually you will have to buy online unless you get lucky and find one at a gamestop or Wal-Mart, it is pretty self-explanitory because the software provided with it is very simple. You put your memory card in you DexDrive and pick one of the buttons on the program for the action you want. Very very simple once you actually have it all. Did that answer your question? _________________
