Hmm, PSM0 is an 10.9 because... 11 usually spells impossible.
But I would say nothing reaches 11 unless it's going to be on 4 pad mode and lives up to the crazy standard of the typical SM 11.

Hmm...that's weird. At CoTC 2, I saw you do an all 10 footer run, and you got a B on PSMO on your first stage.

Oh well, maybe it wasn't you, but I did see your Inital D card on the machine, so I just made assumptions.

Someone needs to work on their reading comprehension.
dont wanna get off topic but yeah, gotta read it better djRez. i have never passed PSMO, EVER!. i dont know u djRez, i mean i do have an Initial D card, with "Zeta" on it, but may just be a coincidence(sp?). so yeah, an assmption it is .i play in Albany. Never played outta Cyberstation

The only song that would warrant an 11 ranking is PSMO.

MaxX Unlimited, Legend of MAX...naah. I find them 10-footer worthy, mainly because they aren't unprecidently difficult to even pass when you look at PSMO's standards.

I'm unsure about MAX.(period), but if it were an 11, it would be the equivalent of Sakura being a 10: meaning it would barely pass as being in that ranking.

I think Paranoia Survivor Heavy is not flashing, but it's new to extreme... I think it's just the rediculously hard ones that are flashing... (beasides MaxX)
Isn't it something like:

Not flashing: Sakura, bag, PS, Max 300, MaxX Unlimited, PSM

flashing: LoM, PSMO???

Paranoia Survivor isn't new to Extreme. It came from MAX2 7th mix cs version as an unlockable.

Oh, and PSM is a flashing on heavy.

actually, the only song on EX that'll yield OMES is The Legend of Max as far as I know.

Well since I can't read reverse worth a damn, I won't be able to prove it either way for a good long time E2.gif . I know that while using Stepmania, the ES that comes up is PSMO (if you AA a song from Extreme), and since all of the other extra stages on Stepmania are correct, I thought maybe that meant something.

To clarify this...

Stepmania chooses as the default extra stage whatever song has the most steps in it. This is why the default extra stage for Max and Max2 is correct.

I'm really not sure how it picks OMES. Some mixes it chooses the same Extra Stage and OMES (3rd mix Korean v2 and Solo 2k). But most of them it seems to pick a pretty fast, fairly tough song (Witch Doctor, Waka Laka, Drop Out, etc...)

However, that being said, you can make a course file with the proper extra stage information for Max, Max2, and Extreme if you want. See their faq.

PSMO is unplayable on extra stage. And I've never heard conclusively that AAing PSM on extra stage doesn't yield an OMES. Anyone here done it?

LoM should be a 10 footer. It's really not that hard. PSMO is probably the only song that actually deserves to be a shinning 10. Not because it's hard necessarily, just because it's so damn tiring.

Here's my thoughts on the topic:

Bag and Sakura are 10s because of their "Extremeness" per se. Bag is a decent 9 footer crunched down to 65 BPM, making it extremely hard to read and a step beyond a regular 9. Sakura is a 10 for the opposite reason- raw speed. It's maybe a 9 foot, but then it's doubled in tempo plus a long freeze to a stop plus a slow section. Now, compared to the "real" 10s as they're referred to, they're nothing but a warmup. But they're definitely a step above the average 9.

Max 300 is what you could refer to as a "basic 10." It's fast a tiring, way above the hardest 9 foot song, but not technical in the slightest. Paranoia Survivor is more technical, and less tiring IMHO, so the two of them come up about even.

MaxX Unlimited is the odd one out. I think it should be a flashing 10 (who the heck came up with "shining" 10?!), because it's just as tiring (if not more) than 300 and Survivor but also is very technical, chock full of tough rhythms, fast jumps, and Chaos beaten only by songs like So Deep or Bag.

The Legend of Max is probably the bottom range of a flashing 10. The technique is somewhere in between 300 and Survivor, centering more around fast jumps and recovering from the fast jumps than actually putting variation into the death runs. I believe that Unlimited is harder than LoM, but LoM still deserves the flashing 10 rating and that it's still a pain in the butt.

Paranoia Survivor Max is easy enough. It's hard. Survivor is hard as it is, but adding a little bit of Chaos with the slowed freezes and the slowed post-death run section, another 20 BPM, and a whole other section after the death runs makes it ridiculous. I think it takes the cake for the top flashing 10 on Heavy. On Oni, I really think it deserves a class of its own. It's just so far above LoM and it's own Heavy step.

As for the home version-only steps... Paranoia ~Respect~ is in a similar spot to Unlimited. It's got a good portion of technique and the random stops and quick restarts add another level of difficulty to it, although it doesn't require nearly as much endurance as Unlimited or maybe even 300. It does, however, have the nastiest-looking (and ALMOST the nastiest to dance) death run section in all of DDR, and that includes PSMO. I mean... doublestepping at 300bpm... wtf?!

Max. (period) is damn hard. IMHO it's Max's answer to PSM... it's Oni step is really tough and well deserving of a flashing 10 (although it's much harder than PSMH), and it's Heavy step could definitely go toe-to-toe with PSMO for more than 10 rounds (for those of you who don't know, Period's Heavy step is harder than it's Oni step, but they're both designated flashing 10s). The Heavy step is tiring with lots of long runs, and it's got tricky rhythms, crazy runs of fast jumps, a stop and slow section (although the slow section is the 180BPM Paranoia tribute). The fact that it reaches 600BPM is simply disgusting (not to mention unreadable). On Oni it's just another typical 10 foot middle-of-the-song-section, but on Heavy it's one long stream (which amounts to a 16-measure death run at 300 BPM with 2X arrow speed). While Period Heavy's stream doesn't quite add up to PSMO's, it's Voltage and Chaos win by a long shot. By that logic, Period Heavy also gets the 11 designation in my book.

And just for the record... I've SDGed both Sakura and Bag, gotten under 20 greats on Max 300 and Bag, AAs on Unlimited, PSMH, LoM, and PSMO, a AA on Paranoia Respect, an A on Max Period Oni and a lovely E on Heavy simply because I can't read 600BPM.

I kinda dissagree with you here. PSMO isn't that much harder than LoM as far as difficulty in steps. PSMO is just incredibly tiring. The steps aren't that hard to do, the hard part is enduring the song long enough to pass it let alone get a decent score. The only really difficult part of the song is the end. It probably wouldn't be as hard if you weren't already so physically tired from the rest of the song.

LOM should definently not be more than 10 feet. It is difficult only because of its light speed. Otherwise its an easy song with simple steps.

PSMO doesnt have difficult steps? The run of death is hard because it's got some of the weirdest, most awkward, difficult steps of any song in the game.

But isn't that part of what makes a song difficult? If a song was solely judged of the technicality of the steps, then Max 300 would be a 9. I believe that the endurance required to come out alive (the Stream, I daresay?) is definitely part of what makes a song difficult.

The only really difficult part of LoM is the fast jumps, especially the parts just before the freeze. The runs may be an unprecentented speed, but they're really nothing in the technique department once you get a hold of it. I don't argue that LoM shouldn't be a flashing 10, just that PSMO is much more difficult.

And for the record, Vash, your sig is freakin awesome happy.gif

It definitely does. And not just the death runs, but the repeating sets of three 8th steps also throw off those used to Max 300's alternating sets of 8th beats (PSMO= left right left, left right left; 300= left right left; right left right). And the rhythm isn't anything to mess with either... granted it's not MaxX Unlimited but it's not all straight downbeats.
