Basically, I'd rather beat a song with speed mods than fail it without. Now, if you do a song on 2x and your friend beats it on 1x, your friend is probably going to get just a little bit more respect (DDRwise, anyway) by people who know that speed mods make songs easier. So, basically: Beating a song on 1x > Beating a song with speed mods >>> failing. The important thing is that you pass.

I always use a 2x speed mod when I play. If anyone thinks I can't play without them, I just bust out Bag 1x and shut them up! biggrin.gif

I just started using speed mods lately, I used to be very anti mods, but the fact is it makes it alot easier to AAA songs with mods and I do think I have lost some respect from some of the players that I play with but the people who's respect I actually care about I haven't lost it from. So just do your thing and improve your game.

All I have to say is that if one's respect to you as a DDR player lies in the way you play, you don't need their respect. 'Nuff said!

I think that if it is an option within the game, then it shouldn't be frowned upon. Everyone plays and views the arrows differently.

It doesn't really matter down here. Either people use them or don't know about holding the green button.

No you don't lose respect, Personally i see Max300 or Maxx x1.5 is more impressive than x1
Or even songs like drop out.

I agree with Kevyn. It doesn't matter and it depends on your playing style.

I don't lose respect for players for using it but I do see it as another way of making the song easier.
But some players are downright spoiled, like they that can't pass almost any song w/out it.

*old grandpa voice*
"...and when we started playing DDR we didn't have speed mods and vivids and had to learn to read the arrows as they were and had to walk uphill in the snow barefoot in both directions etc. etc. etc."

Mods dont make you less respectfull than playing without mods. The reason they were made were because of songs where its almost impossible to read without guessing like bag, orion 78 <amerieuro> and others as slow as that and that packed.

And you must admit that mods helps a lot. During Oni courses, you already know the way the music flows so reading wont be difficult.

i hate when people brag and brag about how they can easily beat a song. then i see them play it and they can only beat it with speed mods. not respectable at all.

In the end, It doesn't really matter...
Some people can use speed mods, others can't. As long as you beat the song, it should be good enough. So to answer your question, no, you don't lose respect at all. Why is that option available in the first place?

well... I always found that mods don't help that much... But that's just me. I won't deny that they do wonders on songs like bag and such, they don't help me. My problems are on the faster songs. And if I speed modded them, wouldn't I have more problems?

But like it's been said, it's your style.
