everyone has a reason, whether it be that they were bored, or thought it looked fun, of just needed the relief, or something else.
my sad story starts last year, in 8th grade, which i might add was the worst year of my life. i was stressed. i was at a private school where everyone knew everyone, and the teachers knew the students very well. so, i flunked the first simester of history class, so the second simester, my homeroom teacher, m history teacher, and my dad were always watching me. the only real break from that i got was at my mom's house. so i come home from another bad day at school. i'm laying down in bed, thinking about the hell i was in, when i remembered that my friend had given me his konamix and i still had a soft pad. so, i started playing, and i had remembered learning to play at my friends house, and for the first time in a long time, i actually felt...happy. and that was a big deal for me. so i kept playing until i could easily pass end of the century on basic. then spring break began, and i went to the arcade and saw my other ddr-playing friend and she convinced me to buy it. so i did, and by the end of spring break, i was playing standard mode.
so there's my story. post yours if you have one _________________

I started DDR becuase I would ALWAYS watch people play it at the mall and they were good and i always wanted to be as good as them even though it might take some time becuase all they ever play is maxx songs and tough 9 footers but i also wanted to do something fun becuase i kinda got tired of holding a controller on my hand pressing buttons and looking at a screen..with DDR its looking at a screen and STEPPING on buttons heheh |

My boyfriend got me started. I don't even know how he found out about the game but one day he bought it and 2 soft mats and he got totally into it. I played a bit just fooling around but then about i dont even know, 2 months later i realized how awesome it was and i started to play more and more. We both worked our ways up together and i am following his lead. He coaches me along! Thank you Andy! _________________

Mainly to work out...figured it'll be better than jogging since I knew that there would be more motivation for me to do it regularly...so I've been playing 4 times a day for the past...5 months? now I'm a pretty good 9-footer...I've only beat three 10-footers (Sakura, Bag, and Maxx 300) |

Ever since April of 1999, when I saw the DDR 1.5 mix machine at Cyberzone Arcade in Koreatown, LA, CA, this is the only type of game that would require a lot of exercise (with the exceptions of Prop Cycle & Martial Beat). Is that a trip or what? Please reply, over! Thanks!

Funny, when I saw a guy playing this at an arcade a few years back I said If I ever decide to play this game, shoot me. Then after that I actually watched a person play at a bowling alley and thought it looked pretty cool sooo....I ended up getting Max2 for my B-day _________________

Hmmm well i had seen DDR in the arcade a few times and thought it looked cool, thought it was cool seeing people play the game and doing well. I didn't know much about it just the basics from observation and common sense. Hit the arrows when they reach the outlines at the top duh
So i suck at dancing, i'm shy, have horrible self-esteem....but i'm still someone who deep inside wants the limelight....just to nervous to step into it or don't think i'm good enough to. So i think this game looks cool and the people playing it look cool playing too.... but yeah of course i'm too chicken to try it myself.
Went over to a friend's one day, last day of term at highschool or something, and we were all playing Playstation (yeah i loved beating all my friends at Tekken even tho i never played it but at her house hehe). Anyway her guy friend brought over a half dead soft mat and what i guess from faded memory must have been 3rd mix. All i remember is what it looked like basically and it had a song i recognised and liked. But i couldn't play the game... probably crap arrow out of synch. Couldn't do it with controller... could never press it at the right time and i had no coordination on the mat.... i only stood up to do it once or twice anyway, was hella embarrased just in front of 10 friends.
So next time i come across it is at uni years later and find a bunch of people in the anime club play. Course the little urge inside is still there and they are more than happy to get more DDR 'recruits'. So finally with good players to teach me so i don't feel like such a fool i manage to step up on stage
So why did i start playing? Because it looked cool and i wanted attention Why did i keep playing after that first time at the arcade? Because I was 1st year, had no friends and most of all it was fun and something i could challenge myself with to improve......so maybe i could get to looking as cool as my teachers Well now since April last year i can pass 10 foot single (Sakura, bag (1x), Paranoia Survivor, Max300) and a whole heap of 9s on double (and bag 3x). I even AA'd CSFIL:SM Double today (33 greats 2 miss). But i still look nowhere near as cool as my old tutors who are all still miles ahead of me ^_-
... Hmmm why did i start playing double? because single was fun...and double's even funner Anyway there's my boring read _________________
