Just do cardio stuffs. I increase my stamina by dancing (since I'm a dance major), so that's what I do. I used to wear weights while running when I worked out, but don't anymore.
Dunno what other people do, since I don't really play ddr anymore, lol. _________________

To increase stamina/get in shape, run. Run 4 laps a day. Don't go crazy, just run. _________________

I dance, too, but it's not really the best kind for increasing stamina (bellydance).
Wearing weights will increase your stamina, but it's a more temporary kind of increase, I think.
Your best bet would be to play songs that you get really tired on, and play them as often as possible. Also, in between songs, take a short break, until you can breathe properly again, but don't let yourself catch your breath completely - you'll miss your second wind that way.
Hope that helped. _________________

For me, I never did any sort of training or running, and my stamina somehow increased drastically. One day I just pumped out a AA on 300 without the bar and I was totally shocked. The same with Unlimited. I guess it all depends on your physique. I guess it was from playing the power 9s and 10s alot, so my stamina training was hard DDR. _________________

i use those free seconds DDR gives you.(when picking a song pick in last 5secs, and then hold the green button and wait till that runs out) |

That's actually not a good way to build stamina. Sure, it'll get you through that song, that time. But it doesn't push you any further, it doesn't strain your limits. You want to do as much as quickly as you can, then let yourself just barely catch your breath before starting again. It's that second wind that will take you farther than you've been able to go.
See, the reason most people stop before they've reached their limits isn't necessarily due to their legs hurting - it's them losing their breath due to physical exertion, and not being able to catch it again. Your brain is struggling for air, and so you stop, thinking you're tired. If you stop, catch your breath, and then keep going, you'll be able to push yourself farther and increase your stamina. _________________

Potassium (in bananas) helps the body recover after a workout, but that's not really the same as saying it increases stamina. |

Non-stop Random All/Random Caprice. As a result of doing that repeatedly, I can last a very long time.

isn't this a gameplay question?
at any rate, doing songs with a lot of stream is helpful. era and CSFILSM are great songs for increasing stamina (I really don't recommend HVAM because that's more of a test of stamina, not a good stressor as it lacks a good flow).
wearing weights doesn't do anything for foot speed or cardiovascular fitness, it only improves the load-bearing muscles in your legs. long jogs are great for stamina. making sure to BREATHE when you play is good for stamina and healthy muscle development. don't wear weights though to make you go faster when you take them off...that's only psychological and we aren't in DBZ. Develop fast twitch muscles by running sprints and suicides.
that should summarize everything you can do outside of DDR to make you into a healthier player. just pace yourself and don't over-work your body in any sort of training you might take on. |

a suicide is when you're on a lined court of some kind (I did them with tennis) and you start at one end, run to the first line, run back and then run to the second line, run back and run to the last line then run back. it builds agility. |

what i did to increace stamina was always pushing myself in DDR. Sure, my legs hurt like crazy often, but it goes away with surprising speed. |

What you just said is the EXACT opposite of what happens to me. I could be doing Max 300, get pass the freeze arrows and just stop out of legs hurting but be breathing like i dident play at all. Weird.
About the suicides, I know them as yo-yo's. Did them a lot during football season. We had to do the whole field long of them. They really help building stamina. _________________

I increased my stamina using certain courses of songs... I played the following course a lot:
1) So Deep (Perfect Sphere Mix)
2) Sakura
3) Drop Out
That helped a lot, after that, I could get through any song... not necessarily getting a good grade on them, but I could pass 'em... |

wouldnt wearing weights while playing ddr increase your speed at least a little? i wear 10 lbs on each foot every so often and when i go to the arcade without the weights my feet go slightly faster.
is it because you put more energy into the step because you are used to it being heavy? so instead of being faster, youre just using more energy? _________________

I couldn't have said this any better. Coincidentally, today I was really working on my stamina and this was the method I was using. I also forced myself to use the common techniques of playing flat footed, and lifting your foot only the bare minimum. Today I went from dying 3/4 of the way through burning heat to lasting all through MaxX Unlimited! |
