I just wanna ask for clarification on how to do this: Do I unzip it, and apply some sort of reinforcement (duct tape etc) to the underside of the top part, which lies on the foam insert? I'd like my pad to last as long as possible. D=
And also, my previous question, I'll quote it just 'cause:
I wrote: | Hm. I just bought a RO Ignition 2.0, and it came with a little cord that looks like one that you'd use for speakers or a set of headphones, but smaller. Anyone know what this is for? I can't seem to find any places on the pad or USB adaptor that it would fit in. |

the 2.0 is the DUAL ignition correct? at least i think it is, and if so, thats the cord for the xbox live communicator, that is IF its the Dual ignition. *Note: Dual meaning, PS2 and Xbox compatable* |

yeah, it's for the xbox live headset. Mine didn't fit though, I had to shave the rubber off one side to get it to plug in all the way. Just a heads up. |

It should for its price, unless you purposely try to break it |

Slightly but not alot... Once you breakin an RO, it'll probably be the same. It's the raised arrow insert that may make this difference. Some vendors like levelsix.com, have a stiffer arrow insert, making it not as sensitive as BNS.
How much are RO's at local stores? If I can recall, I heard a gamestop or ebworld in California were selling RO's for $50... |

Here in NYC, it cost $100 for RO [Gamestop, EB etc]
-Can someone answer where to get that foam that you open up your ignition pad [not the dense inserts] ? I want to replace that foam...

I'm a complete DDR newb, but maybe you can help me out. I'm just beginning to get into Standard mode, and I'm thinking about getting a new, better pad (I currently own a crappy $20 MadCatz pad. I don't think it's as abysmal as some make it seem, but it's certainly nothing to write home about.) My current favorite is the $50 BNS DX.
So here's my question: Should I replace the DX's dense foam with hard foam from levelsix, or is the DX's foam already that type? My apologies if the question was confusing.
Edit: Also, I've heard people suggest modding the DX with duct tape. Just to clarify: The duct tape is applied to the part of the pad just above the foam insert, correct? |

The DX has the same foam that Ignitions have; just thicker. |

The left arrow triggers the up and triangle buttons as well, so it works in gameplay but the menus are frustrating. Also, im working on my Perfect Attack but it will randomly give me a miss for likje 3 consecutive arrows and I am unable to get a full combo for sh!t... This i am 100%sure of, I was better of with my $20 pad
whyyyy????? |
You have it on dance mode, right? (up+start+select)
I have an ignition 2.0 and I get A or AA most of the time, an occasional AAA on easier songs. Yes, all perfects. 'Tis a nice pad. =D |

DX foam is the ultra dense "hard" foam from levelsix. So replacing the DX foam isn't necessary.
Yes, the white plastic layer.

Umm, i dont know if this part has been answered yet, but the triangle button is supposed to trigger the up arrow during game play unless u turn it off in the options, this allows people to play with controlers because u cant do <- and -> or ^ and v at the same time on the standard ps2 controler. like wise, X= down, O=right, []=left, and /_\=up.
All i can say about the left arrow trigering the up one is that maybe when u hit the left one, the triagle button gets triggered as well making it appear that the up button is affected. try going to options, controler settings, dance play, contoler 1=OFF. IF that dosnt work then i hope u have a warentee! |

DDRguyKAOS wrote: | i know triangle is supposed to trigger UP, but my left arrow is triggering triangle (& up). that means that i can only scoll right in the menu or else my game will restart. I am using RedOctane Ignition pad (not v2.0) and standard US PS2 w/ Max and Max2. I dont put a lot of stress on the pad during play, but the hard area that protects the back arrow has slid halway into the middle, and the underside of the up arrow has a large rip at its low border
I declined the warrenty upon purchase, but is it possible to return for these defects that are developing long before the pad is supposed to wear out? |
It sounds that the internal wires are getting crossed in that area, causing the multiple triggers. If it happened when you first got it, then you got a defective pad. Isn't there a standard warranty of 60 days online/30 days store? I'd try your best to get it replaced.
If not, you can check out this guide and try to fix it yourself: http://www.ddr-pad-fix.tk/ |
