I started playing at a friends birthday party at Funworks. She is good and so are her brothers. When I first told my household I loved DDR they reacted fine, they are cool with it but when I ask to go constantly they get annoyed. _________________

When I first started playing DDR, my friends were the ones that got me hooked on it. So I don't know their initial reaction. My family knew nothing about it so they didn't have much a reaction either. Then a few more days of DDR passed, I started improving... like whoa. So the reaction from my friends: surprised o0
Then I got DDR and my dad thinks Heavy is mind-warping or something. My mom thinks it's great for something my brother and I can do. _________________

My family didn't really care... lol. I'm the only person in a 50 mile radius who has it, so every time I'd talk about it to a friend or something people would always ask, "D00d wuts Dance Revolution?"

Sine the 3 years I've been playing DDR, I've showed like 15 of my friends. About 10 of em still play now. 6-7 of em are on Heavy. Me and my little brother used to play back when 4th and 5th just came out and then by the time EXTREME came out my brother said he was sick of DDR and quit.
My mom thinks the game is great, although she's sick of taking me to the arcade, though by next year I can drive myself there. I taught my mom how to play, she can do 3 footers, but she doesn't play often or anything. My dad won't touch the game. But, he's sick of me playing DDR too.
Anyway, most of my friends have shown their friends how to play. The last neighborhood party we had here, we brought DDR, 2 PS2s, and 2 TVs and had like 20 people in someone's living room waiting for a turn to play DDR haha. We took a peice of paper and wrote our names down to signify turns, instead of a coin line.
So I'd say my family/friends/neighborhood/community/school has reacted pretty well to DDR, still some people that say its gay, but its doing good here. _________________

My parents were actually impressed after watching me play. One of my best friends has MAX2 for his PS2 and I play it with him all the time. As for my other friends, they think I'm stupid, and they think the game is retarded. And I think it's just because they wish they were good at it. _________________

My friends truly looove the game...and it's only the Korean friends that despise DDR and favor PIU, while my Chinese and Japanese friends looove DDR and despise PIU. As for my White friends, they seem to TRULY LOOOVE DDR AND PIU...so that was interesting...but I met SOOOO MANY PEOPLE FROM DDR...like I think 30 people and got two girlfriend's from it...well I get to make girls happy anywhere I go .
As for my parents...they used to be w/e-ish about it...until about after they saw me play DDR for a while and they were like "OMG YOU LOOK SO FRICKEN RETARTED I COULD LAUGH AT YOU CUZ YOU LOOK SO STUPID" cuz back when I was a semi-n00b my arms were dangling...like the other hundreds of DDR players across the country. They HATED me for that, and after they heard that DDR was REALLY BAD FOR YOU from this BS Korean News channel (my parents are Korean and will believe ANYTHING if it's being said by another Korean) saying that video games are bad and that DDR and PIU is no exception and that it damages your brain while playing DDR, so my parents ripped up my $200 Red Octane Pad (very sad...sad...sight...) and smashed my playstation and broke ALL of my DDR disks and BANNED DDR in my house....so as you can tell....they like ruining my life by breaking personal belongings...so there...I really envy all the DDR players that convinced their parents or whatnot that DDR is good and that the parents play as well...because I can NEVER EVER EVER imagine my parents playing ddr ...I MISS DDR AT HOME SOOOO BADLY!!! |

first of all, im so sorry for you kayato.
when my friend first introduced DDR to me, iwas a doggy about saying stuff like "only asians can play good". Trust me, WHOLE different view now. we both started at the same time with soft pads. he got DDR 1 for the playstation and i got max2. he got stuck on light and gave up. i made it to heavy.
1 month after i started i found out my stepbrother was playing too. he got all into it and made me a bet he would be better than me. he got halfway standard and gave up. now everytime i play ddr he heckles me and tells me im too obsessed. i dont know why he says crap if my playing doesnt hurt him in any way. we dont even live together yet.
other than that everyone is cool with me playing _________________

I'm probably the only one in the family who really plays the game. My brother plays a little but whenever I try to get him to play, he chickens out (probably fearing that I might toss Afronova his way). My mom and sis have tried to play once, failing miserably but all in good fun, and my dad can't play because he's physically handicapped after having a brain tumor removed (walks w/ cane now. He's doing alright, though). _________________
