In a couple of year there will be some new games out, so its hard to say now. If you were to open one now, good games to have would be
-House of the Dead 3
-Time Crisis 3 (this and HotD3 are essential almost)
-DDR Extreme
-2 or 3 racing games
-some pool tables and air hockey are always welcome
-Tekken Tag, Marvel VS Capcom 2, Mortal Combat
-My sister personally loves Police Trainer and spent a ton of money beating both 1 and 2
-a few classy and vintage games
-3 or more pinball tables are always good. I recommend The Lord of the Rings pinball and Star Wars, they are always fun. I also liked that Madness Castle, I think that was its name. _________________

Since you asked in Music games im gonna assume you wanted to know about other popular music games. IIDX is the fastest growing music games out right now other than DDR. Pop'n is gaining a ton of popularity right now on the home consoles, but there are 6 machines in North America. If you have a good location, Popn could be a good gamble. Drummania does well in that it actually does a very good in simulating drums and can get a lot of people _________________

I wholeheartedly agree about Pop'n and IIDX. I love those games. And drummania is good too. Also, see if you can pick up a DDR Solo or 3rd Korean too, though it probably will be hard to find. I also love Para Para Paradise. There are only a few in the US, but seems to be very popular at good times.
And don't forget Initial D . |

That's a tough call, sir. I'd say that music games may not make an absolute killing in money at first, but they'll gain popularity. In that case: Check competition around you. Check the games everyone loves. Get those and other games that will bring players from thier arcade to yours.
Here's a few:
Pop N' Music is a GREAT idea. Under 10 in North America? Jump on it.
Beatmania IIDX, for sure.
Ticket games for the kids are a given, but not too many ticket games... thats annoying...
Soul Calibur 2
SNK vs. Capcom Chaos (is that even out yet? HAHA!)
Some form of Simulator Game
A good tip is to be well-rounded in all genres of games. Far too many times I see arcades with more of one type game. One racing, one shooting, one ticket games... get the best of each!
I try to help!

Go 'way.
Okay. When you say arcade, I'll tell you what I think the essential arcade needs, beside music games.
Nice employees, TECH'S THAT ACTUALLY KNOW WHAT THEY'RE DOING. A food joint that's quality, and good prices. Maintained machines, good placement of the said machines.
I'd go with the following titles (to start)
Time Crisis 2 and 3 prefferably DX (make sure that the kickback feature WORKS and the trigger is tight enough, the thing that makes me want to stop playing is a gun that is with a loose trigger and the kickback is motionless.)
House of the dead 2 booth, good screen is a must.
House of the dead 3, doesn't really matter whether it's the Small Cabinet of the Deluxe screen. Check occasionally if the shotgun pump is working.
A good assortment of fighters. I'm not one for fighters, but I know that they draw crouds, or can.
Ticket redemption games; decide the value of one ticket, decide how much prophit you want to make from ticket games and set the ratio of tickets per game accordingly. Get some great prizes, and some cheap ones. Hook up a ticket counter machine and you're good to go! Advice though, put the ticket games away from more mature games, if possible set up a kiddie section just for these type games.
For music games, heh. Don't get me started...
DDR Ex with mem slots. Keep the pads in sterling condition. Charge a dollar for 4 songs or 5 songs.
Pop'n Music 9, check the buttons regularly.
IIDX, any style after 5 and before 9. Just my opinion. Keep the screen in IMMACULATE CONDITION. Make sure that they'res no blob.
Hope this helped. _________________

Ive always preferred 3 songs for 75 cents. Even if I play multiple games of DDR it doesnt feel like im blowing an entire dollar.
For Popn, atleast 9 since any version below that can't get upgraded without this impossible to find hardware upgrade. 75 cents is a good price
For IIDX I suggest atleast 8th style, since 7th is out at home and anyway whos played IIDX is probably tired of 6th. That was the problem with our 6th style. We got no where near as many out of towners as 8 on the breaks simply because most people were sick of 6th style. Everyone would love you if you charged 75 cents, but I can understand having this game be a dollar. However if you charge a dollar don't be a cheap asshole like our Putt Putt guy and turn off Extra Stage just when people start being able to get it. _________________

Up here in the frozen wastelands of Canadia, we pay a dollar for three songs. :( No memory card slots either. At the very least, one of the operators will turn it up for us if we play Burning Heat for him. :D
I can just see what would happen if our arcade got a Pop'n machine. FUCK BUDDY WAH DERE'S BALLS COMIN' DOWN THE SCREEN LUH GOT A SCHMOOKE WAS WIT ALL DEM BALLS JESUS B'Y IT'S LIKE FUCKIN' MCDONALDS IN HERE WAH
>_<;; They really do talk like that...

You could open a Dance Beat Arcade style place =D _________________

I'm sure if it was sold for profit, Konami would clamp down on it (I'm sure it's a matter of time before they clamp down on ITG).[/quote]

But do we really want another shoddily run operation? I've been there and it is NOT the bemani utopia some perceive it to be. _________________
