They said the same to me when i emailed them that it would be SHIPPED in aprox. 2weeks. Im curious as to why it takes them so long. I mean the pads are obviously popular, so why would u just make them according to when someone buys one. Plus it really shouldnt be taking this long. I live in California and they are stationed in Utah.....not really that far from Cali unless my geography is off.... |
I don't know what their current staffing numbers look like, but they are a small company that is receiving hundreds of orders (judging by Order Numbers people are posting in the CF forums). Pad construction is bound to be backlogged.
There are two arguments against building pads beyond demand. The first is that you than have to devote space to storing them, which, if it isn't already there, would likely result in having to lease more space. The second is that building to order is less risky. If you have a payment commitment from somebody, spending the time and using up your raw materials has less of a risk than building 3-400 units in advance and hoping they sell. From a financial point of view, if you were to build units in advance, you would have this pile of capital expense in one quarter and might not see the return on it for another three quarters - so you would blow your cash on building the pads and then not have a steady stream of income over time. Let's say, then, that in Q1, CF spends $60,000 building 300 pads (assuming parts, labor, testing is roughly $200 per pad with $100 profit). They will not only have a surplus for the next few quarters, they will also not see the revenue on those pads until all of them sell. If they don't all sell within the next quarter, it could be Q4 until they make back that $60K, which would leave them in the lurch for Q2-Q3. However, if you build to demand, you see instant revenue to cover your construction expenditures.
Beyond all that, however, CF has recently said that there was a 'materials problem' that held up production. That has apparently been fixed and pads that were held up are now being shipped.
I waited 23 days for my CF. Once you get it, the pain of the wait disappears. _________________

Have you taken a looked inside your pad yet? Is the foam underneath the arrow too thick? Or the metal surface of the arrow not coming in contact with the copper grid as easily? Email RO if you need more help. |

As I mentioned in earlier posts I've decided to go with the RO Metal Pad over the various ebay knockoffs, mostly because I feel I need the assurance of a good warranty and a tried and true product.
I just ordered my RO Metal pad on Monday and it shipped out yesterday (gotta love that speedy shipping). I should be getting it sometime next week, and I can't wait! I'll be sure to let you guys know how I like it after I play on it for awhile... |

You were right. It took them 3 weeks to get it to me, but it was worth it. The pad is so great, and it absorbs my jumping even when i try (and fail) any of the maxes. I cant wait to hook it up to my comp and try it out with SM. _________________

I think I may have gotten myself a free RO Metal Pad! Here's what happened:
I attempted to order the pad via RO's website, but my card verification failed, so I tried it two more times and it failed two more times. At this point I called my credit card company and they said that I had been charged 3 times even though the site said that the verifcation failed (over $750), yikes! So I called RO and they said that the transaction never actually went through and that the charges should disappear off of my card in a couple of days (and they did). So, then I placed the order over the phone since I don't trust their website. Well, that was Monday and my pad was shipped on Tuesday and is scheduled to arrive on Monday and I have yet to be charged for it.
Don't companies usually charge you for a product before they ship it out? Did I get a free pad here? Too bad I didn't know this was going to happen ahead of time, or I would have gotten 2! |

i believe all DDR making companies charge you when they ship the pad. if you aren't charged by the time the pad comes to u then ur really lucky. oh and BTW if u ordered two u probably wouldn't have had it happen. cuz they would have two chances to catch their mistake. of course this is only if u didn't get charged..... |

That was my experience with my Cobalt Flux, but I'm not sure if they've changed their policies since then. (I got my Cobalt Flux around July 18th or so last year. It still works wonderfully.) _________________

Trust me that won't last, the auction still has over 4 days to go. Most of his auctions usually end up at around the $280-$300 mark. He probably has a reserve of around $250 so unless it reaches that high it won't be sold.
On another note, I just found out that my RO Metal pad is out for delivery today, which means I should be getting it sometime today, yay! Man, I got the Super Saver shipping and it only took 4 days to get here, that's pretty good! |

I'm thinking about getting a Red Octane metal pad. Is there any ACTUAL flaws with it? Is it going to die on me faster than a Mad Catz standard pad? Is it worth the money? And don't tell me about the Cobalt Flux pad, I'm a jobless 16 year old. I can't afford such a pad. |

It is definately worth it. The only little flaw is that u cant just put ur fooot on it and expect it to go off. U have to press the arrow. | That's alright. I could deal with that. And I totally agree with your signature. But we all know Konami U.S. is gonna mess it up with crappy American liscensed songs. And probably tone it down a bit, with the idea that it's "too difficult" for American players. A nice little doggy slap across the face from Japan. |

I have a metal pad that I recently rewired. What is the bes way to keep it from sliding on a carpeted floor? It's a flat bottom pad so any suggestions would be appreciated. _________________

Which of these is the *best* and most like what is in the arcade?
Dance Dance Revolution DDR True Arcade Super Metal Dance Pad V 2.0 w/ Handle Bar ($299)
http://www.ddrgame.com/dadareddrtra.html
Cobalt Flux Dance Platform ($300)
link
Red Octane Metal Pad ($200)
http://www.redoctane.com/redoctanemetalpad.html
I really wish there was a review site out there that compared them. Anyway, I await some feedback before I place an order. I am leaning towards the DDRGame version. _________________

A bar makes any decent metal pad bad. The pads aren't heavy enough to counteract the weight of a person, making it more prone to tipping. Plus the pad has acrylic rather than polycarbon arrows.
A CF has the best durability out of the pads.
A RO has a better simulation of the arcade as opposed to CF's flat surface. A homemade metal pad offers the closest arcade feeling.
So if you prefer the arcade feeling, go RO. If you want a pad that won't give much problems/break in the new future go CF. |
